ChiliIrishHammock24
I honestly didn't even know there was another music fest this year, but I woke up and tried to check out prices on Macklemore's new tour and I noticed he suddenly had a Chicago date on there, and it was for this music fest. "Lineup: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Lupe Fiasco Fifth Harmony Prince Royce DNCE Fat Joe Jeremih Carl Thomas Felix da Housecat …and special surprise guests!" https://www.isfauthority.com/concerts-event...n-it-musicfest/ I've always wanted to see Lupe, who was my favorite in High School, so I'm glad I'll get the chance. Just like the Chance festival I went to last year, I really only care about a couple of these artists, but still, the experience will be worth the $50 ticket. My seats are in section 544. ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 10:58 AM) Fat Joe is still alive and rapping? Apparently. I really just care about seeing Macklemore, Lupe, maybe DNCE, and I am hoping/wondering if Chance will show up since not only is there a gap in his tour schedule, but he's obviously a Chicago boy and he hosted MCD last year. Probably won't get Kanye or Common again, but I can see Chance there for sure. Plus, they have a song together on Macklemore's last album.... Jose Abreu
Lack of ticket sales? They did a completely horrendous job promoting it.

They did a completely horrendous job promoting it. Yeah, I don't really know, they have yet to say anything about why it's been cancelled. Either lack of tickets or maybe Macklemore somehow couldn't do it anymore. No idea. Really bummed though. I've seen Macklemore twice already, but I've never had the chance to see Lupe yet and I was super stoked to cross him off my list. Really bummed. Buehrle>Wood
QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 11:29 PM) How'd they manage to F up the Chance ties? They didn't mess anything up. Lollapalooza backed up a brinks truck to his house and gave him the #1 headlining spot so he couldn't have his own music festival again. As for this, sounds like they weren't prepared at all to throw an event and these were first time promoters. As we learned from fyre festival, it's a little more difficult than just signing up artists to play.

CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Still no idea why this was ever in Soxtalk. Was it supposed to be at GRF ? Chance the Rapper ties ? Still oddly out of place. Edited September 6, 2017 by CaliSoxFanViaSWside

That's correct- despite the reports of us having signed him, we screwed it up and he never actually ended up signing
soxfan18
No one actually knows what happened the Sox and Chance. For all we know, he wanted to be paid X to wear the hat or he'd wear his own, and the Sox said "no, that's okay". Regarding MCD, Lolla performers have a non-compete, they can't perform within X miles for so many months following the festival. So many MCD returns next year, who knows. I really hope it returns, it was incredible, with a massive list of popular performers.
