striker
Any guesses as to where he lands?
Chicago White Sox
Seattle is 1.5 games and could use another starter in the near term. I'll go with them.
ChiSoxJon
MiGo for RHP Dylan Unswroth, who says no: CWS or SEA? I think MiGo's inning eating is more valuable than "cash considerations"
flavum
Just for fun, Rangers- and he faces the Sox this weekend.
BlackSox13
Too many contenders could use a guy like MiGo which makes guessing kinda tough. Uh, f*** it, I'll say the Twinkies because the other good guesses have already been taken.
bjm676
I guess either Angels, Mariners or Cardinals.
ChiSox59
Pretty shocked he cleared waivers, but I guess that gives Hahn more flexibility.
Wanne
at this point the Cards wouldn't surprise me at all. Like most have said...just how the hell a contender passed on him is mind boggling. It's not like he has this massive contract...
thxfrthmmrs
Scherzer to DL. Gonzalez would fill in nicely for him. Maybe Robles +?

Like most have said...just how the hell a contender passed on him is mind boggling. It's not like he has this massive contract... $5.9 Million. Call it a Mil a month. Free Agent after this year. Like most have said...just how the hell a contender passed on him is mind boggling. It's not like he has this massive contract... Gonzalez just isn't very good. His last 2 starts have been effective, but the K rates are low (as they have been all season), suggesting lack of sustainability. Other than that, pretty miserable season. Maybe he's a little better than some of the guys a team like Seattle is using to patch a rotation. We'll see.

striker
Wishful thinking, but if Liriano could net Teoscar Hernandez, then maybe Gonzalez could get something similar. He has less control but has been worth more WAR than Liriano.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (striker @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) Wishful thinking, but if Liriano could net Teoscar Hernandez, then maybe Gonzalez could get something similar. He has less control but has been worth more WAR than Liriano. He was also traded a month ago, which is more important. We are talking about 5-6 weeks worth of control at this point, when no one would even claim him for just his salary alone.
spiderman
Amazing that some team hasn't grabbed him, at worst case, as a long reliever, 5th starter for down the stretch. Sox would probably give him away if it saved them some minor cost savings over the last month.
knightni
QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) Amazing that some team hasn't grabbed him, at worst case, as a long reliever, 5th starter for down the stretch. Sox would probably give him away if it saved them some minor cost savings over the last month. At this point, I don't see the value of moving him. There's not enough to warrant any good team having interest.

There's not enough to warrant any good team having interest. Maybe on the 31st since that's when a lot of August deals happen due to rosters expanding next day. Move him for whatever and re-sign him to hold down the 5th spot next year.
witesoxfan
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 08:27 AM) Maybe on the 31st since that's when a lot of August deals happen due to rosters expanding next day. Move him for whatever and re-sign him to hold down the 5th spot next year. I believe postseason rosters have to be set prior to August 31st, so if he is moved, I would expect it on or by 8/30. Lillian
How much would the Sox have to commit to a qualifying offer? That might make sense, if no team steps up to offer a worthwhile prospect. It wouldn't be such a bad idea to sign him to a one year contract. Someone has to start, until the Sox are ready to bring up Kopech, and Hansen to join Rodon, Giolito, Lopez and Shields. At that point, next season, providing he is still performing, maybe they can deal him at the next trade deadline. Lillian
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 26, 2017 -> 11:30 AM) Will be upwards of $18 million. Wow, really? I'm surprised that it would require that much. That hurts. Maybe a qualifying offer isn't such a good idea, after all. I wonder if that isn't negatively affecting any current trade negotiations.
