Alec Hansen #100

Recommended Posts

Hey all! So I have been following this forum daily for a few years, but for some reason never made an account! Well now I have, so I'll be joining in on some conversations and I'm super excited about it.

I haven't seen this posted anywhere and I'm all about the rebuild and prospects but Alec Hansen is now #100 on MLB top prospects. I get that may not mean much but it's clearly well deserved and still exciting to see that he is respected outside of just this Sox organization.

Can't wait to be apart of this forum. I'm a massive White Sox fan and have been my whole life. I'm 23 and an accountant in Michigan City, IN. Call me "Gallo".. BELIEVE IN THE REBUILD!!!

With the graduations of Giolito, Moncada, Lopez and of course Fulmer (lol jk) the only two prospects who are definitively higher than him are Jimenez and Kopech. His ETA is moving up too, if he keeps his control in AA there's really not a whole lot left for him to prove. He's a dark horse midseason call up next year, he's going to finish this season with about 130 IP so he's not far from where he needs to be there.

I have no idea how this kid isn't in the 25 to 50 range at least. He has checked all of the boxes for a year now.

I agree. I believe that when lists are out at the beginning of next year he will be in the 25-50 range and our #3 prospect behind Eloy and Kopech

agreed, post graduations I think our top 5 will be Jimenez, Kopech, Hansen, Robert, Cease

It's hard to say where he'll land on the lists because those have as much to do with everyone else as they have to do with Hansen, and I really can't keep up with the prospect world's erratic stock market that well. I mean, I know Eloy is going to be top 5. I know Kopech is the best or second best (honestly, I don't see who could be considered better though) arm. But after that super high group it gets muddy.

Hansen may wind up being even more hyped than we are anticipating. When you start looking for flaws you come up pretty empty, I don't know what more e could be showing.

Crazy how ATL has had a top 5 system for what seems like half a decade, CWS system is sure to regress with all those graduating within the next year (Moncada, Jimenez, Kopech, Giolito, Hansen, Fulmer, Gillaspie, Adams, Cordell, Stephens, Tilson, Guerrero, Bummer). CWS need to hit on the upcoming Draft and have to hope a few guys breakout while the others develop

I predict CWS opens up 2018 with their top 10 as Jimenez (AA), Kopech (AAA), Robert (A), Rutherford (A), Cease (A+), Hansen (AAA), Collins (AA), Dunning (AA), Fulmer (AAA), and Burger (A+) with Moncada and Giolito graduating

CWS likely opens up 2019 with their top 5 as Robert (AA/AAA), CWS 2018 first rounder, Rutherford (AA), Cease (AAA), and CWS 2018 second rounder/Burger (AA)

Hopefully, CWS puts together a winning season in 2019 for the first time in ages and makes playoffs in 2020 when the perennial powerhouse begins

I don't think our 2018 second rounder will be above our 2017 first rounder... I'm a big fan of Burger, and I don't think our next year second rounder will be listed above him.

I am as well and I didn't, put them equal to emphasize the value of the top pick or two of the second round

Regardless of the slot the Sox will pick from or the prospects they have acquired, I would like to see the Sox start showing success in scouting and developing young position talents, that is the only way to have a perennial top farm like the Braves have.

Of all the positional prospects, Zavala is the only one who took a big step forward, same for Delmonico (but we will see how much he will regress, his AAA stats don't scream MLB starter). Adolfo is finally healthy, but with him the glass is half full. There is not much else to show for from LatAM (even on the pitching side). Every other positional prospect has been disappointing.

This seems like the appropriate thread to ask this: Why isn't Hansen in AA yet? What more could be possibly have left to prove at W-S?

The Sox have really pumped the breaks on pushing prospects through the system in general in the past year.

Well, they promoted Moncada, despite his craptacular splits; as a consequence, his numbers as a RH bat are as bad as a pitcher's.

They promoted Zach Collins, again, despite inferior results.

And, they stupidly gave Fulmer an MLB start, despite him not showing any good reason to-do so all season long.

I'm sure there are other cases, but I don't believe that this FO has truly changed their ways about pushing prospects.

The Fulmer start was a spot start due to a double-header. That had more to do with the luck of the rotation than anything else.

Moncada was at a point where he wasn't getting anything from AAA.

Collins also a reach, especially when you look at the level he is at, and the playing time squeeze he is getting with Zavala there. He is also having an artificially bad season due to experimenting with changes.

They also kept guys like Giotlito and Lopez in AAA for almost the entire season when in years past they are probably on the opening day roster. Same with Moncada.

They have taken their time to promote Zavala. Adolfo is still in low A despite his successes this season. Despite Kopech's domination he spent essentially the entire year at AA. Hansen never got a promotion out of A ball despite his dominance. This is off of the top of my head here, so I am sure I am missing some.

Yes, Moncada's .216 BA as a RH bat in a bandbox in Charlotte really showed he "wasn't getting anything in AAA." He's conclusively proven he VANQUISHED AAA, through his continued DOMINANCE as a RH bat with his awesome .114 BA here in Chicago.

Fulmer hadn't shown anything in AAA, & probably should have been in Birmingham to start the season. His placement in AAA in of itself was a push job, even moreso than the start. Volstad could have been used as a sacrificial lamb instead of Fulmer, or other options were equally available for the DH. Why reward mediocrity by giving him the start?

For Collins vs Zavala, all I'll say is that the numbers conclusively show that Zavala is/was the more deserving hitter in A+. .220 BA for Collins is bad in A+. But promoting a .220 BA is even worse, & may not be the best for his development. We'll see.

Giolito and Lopez were largely developed by other orgs, & finished here. I don't consider them rushed at all.

Adolfo's previously-artificially high numbers have fallen as his BaBIP has properly regressed, & the Ks pile up. A 31% K rate in LOW A means he is a non-factor. He will likely never have an MLB PA with this org, as better, & more deserving prospects pass him up.

Kopech and Hansen are near their IP limits, but Hansen did go from LOW A to A+ this year, contrary to your statement.

While you may feel comfortable taking this front office at their word, I prefer to not be lied to by them. YMMV...

lol, that is hilarious. Apparently the White Sox are running some first world propaganda organization here, and you are the only one who can see through it. Whatever makes you feel smart.
