The year before he put up a WAR of 2 (over 20 starts) and that was the only year in his career (outside of his rookie year where he threw 186 innings) where he didn't throw 200 innings. I will qualify that by saying it is debatable whether he will get to that mark this year (or not). He should have a shot though (28 innings away). Verlander is still pretty good. Not as great as he once was, but for the Astros, they seemed okay taking on the additional money vs. giving up the prospects for a guy who absolutely makes them a more formidable world series contender, imo. Detroit had an awful farm system and the guy they had to get a good return for is Verlander IMO.
