flavum
Also keep in mind the Giants have been in Chicago since Wednesday night, had an off day on Thursday in a fun city, and they suck.
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 04:24 PM) Let's let that hypothetical happen then. Fulmer has been bad for over a year. He's been bad in AAA, he's been bad in the majors. He's been bad as a reliever and starter. I'm really glad he had a good start that featured lots of Ks. But no, I don't expect a lot out of him. Doesn't mean anyone is rooting for his failure to be right. And so that's the reality. Maybe today's start had some incredible change that sets him on a trajectory for success. Or it was just a random good start against a team we are vying for position on. I don't think any Sox players career will be decided by a single game, but I think the white Sox org trajectory very well might. I am always an optimist when it comes to Sox youngsters. Hell I loved Brent Morel when he had that 9 homer September. He's 23 and yes pretty much everything about him has been disappointing but he deserves another start and I am pretty sure the Sox agree and will give him another one . I'll just take it start by start and see how it goes without any predictions.
hi8is
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 04:23 PM) Yeah, that's true. I'm really not mad here. No sense going any further over something so trivial. I want the Sox to lose EVERY GAME this month. That's just me. I will admit I haven't even looked at what Bumgarner has been doing recently and even if I knew he had been struggling or not pitching up to his extremely high standards I would still expect the Giants to win. They didn't. Oh well. You've matured well, grasshoppa.... myself, not so much.

He's gotta get those walks down a bit but I really like what I've seen from him lately. If he's throwing strike 1 he's so hard to hit. A WHIP below 1 with 5 walks in 10 innings is crazy. In the minors our guys get questionable tutoring. In the bigs, the pitchers have Cooper. Fulmer looked damn good today, folks.

Small grain of salt here with the sample size but I've always believed he'll have value as a big league pitcher. Dudes not a lots cause as some have suggested.... ( along with Rodon, Burger, and some of the other young guys that another poster wrote off earlier in the week. )
Jerksticks
So any thoughts on if this was Fulmer with his best stuff? If so then that sucks because what makes pitchers good ones is that they can still not get shelled with their mediocre or bad stuff. If this was middling stuff, then hell yea Fulmer. Chris Sale got shelled twice in August and hit hard a couple of other games.
Dick Allen
Yesterday the Sox, Cubs and Bears were playing home games at the same time. I wonder how many times that has happened.
