reiks12
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 01:10 PM) That takes a potential Abreu player off of the table as I have to imagine a lot of their prospects are moving in that deal. its the Marlins we are talking about here, they practically gave Stanton away

witesoxfan
QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 12:13 PM) its the Marlins we are talking about here, they practically gave Stanton away Because he had $295 million left on his contract. Marcell Ozuna is going to get something like $8-10 million this year and next. There is a huge, huge difference between Ozuna and Stanton. Squirmin' for Yermin
Just saw that. I don't think this pulls them out of the Abreu sweepstakes.. The Cards still need a first baseman. Still a good match. The questions really is what would they have left in the farm after the Ozuna deal and will they weaken it more from it for Abreu? daggins
Rox also a fit for Avi, I suppose, if they don't think Dahl comes back strong. I think they should push hard for Yelich, though. They need more hitters/fielders. Yelich + Carlos Santana makes them a pretty tough team.

Bob Sacamano
Cards will likely still be in the market for a CI whether it be at 1B or 3B (Abreu, Longoria, Donaldson and even Machado).

There weren't that many teams that were a fit anyways, and those teams are taking on marlins outfielders or the results of marlins outfielders being traded.
