Struggling to process this one. Guy was shooting a high powered rifle out the window of Mandalay Bay 30something floor into a crowd across the street. I've stayed at that hotel. Would have had to reload multiple times and basically have an arsenal there. Deadliest mass shooting we've had yet, surpassing Pulse.

We were playing blackjack at the Aria. People started getting reports of an active shooter at the Mandalay on their phone, but everyone was still just playing, business as usual. Then there were a couple of banging loud noises and everyone went crazy. The dealers ran away, we started hiding under the card tables until we thought it was safe enough to sneak to the elevators and go upstairs, it was messed up.

Glad you're safe.

Damn man, glad you are safe.

Any idea on what the banging noises were? Wouldn't imagine that the gunshots would be heard audibly in the Aria casino.

Just saw a flash across Bloomberg that ISIS is claiming credit and saying that the shooter had just converted to Islam in the last couple of months... but also noting that ISIS likes to make stuff like this up in an attempt to claim credit for attacks.

They claim everything, so far no evidence that its legit.

ISIS claims lots of bulls*** and I can't believe AP just sort of credulously reported that claim

Seems difficult to believe a guy with this profile would suddenly convert to Islam and join up with ISIS in his 60's. Plus ISIS, as others noted, claims all manner of stuff they didn't do. But it's not impossible I suppose.

The fact that he is 64 years old and has no criminal record at all is already a big overcoming of the typical odds in profile of this type of shooter.
