Wildcard games thread

Yeah, Robertson looked great. Threw 52 pitches and his breaking ball was still sharp.

I laughed when Gardner hit that HR after being brushed back the pitch before.

Looking like Santana won't get his first win in new Yankee stadium after all. Better luck next time bub.

Fun game to watch. Yanks heading to Cleveland.

Gary Sanchez better get those nuts on ice after taking a direct hit off a foul tip.

that was nasty. reminded me of adrian beltre against the sox. Robertson pitched 3 and a 1/3 scoreless. Kahnle added 2 and a 1/3 more. Good trade by the yankees.

Yeah man, Sanchez took a direct hit on that foul tip. Even my wife blurted out " oh damn"! Kahnle was filthy too. Yanks got exactly what they needed in that trade.

How about Greene? He was filthy too until he ran out of gas. Yanks pen is really something. That team will be even more scary next year if they can get some starting pitching help. Yikes.

There were some writers clamoring for Girardi to make it a bullpen game from the get go and save Severino for game 1 of the ALDS. That's basically what happened, except he gave the Twins a 3-run head start. Luckily for him, the Twins pitching staff is average at best and his offense stepped up.

The Twins have now been to the playoffs five times since 2004. They've lost all but one of the 14 games they've played in that time, including the last 13. If they don't win the first game of their next appearance, they will have the all time longest playoff skid.

Have I mentioned lately how wrong my instincts were about these play-in games? They're great.

One of the best changes baseball has made in recent years. There was like that 3-4 years in a row when there had to be a game 163 that helped push it in this direction.
