Soxbadger
QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 02:44 PM) Man, I'm glad that you know all those women were liars... Well isnt it obvious: Hollywood actresses are always telling the truth and therefore are 100% reliable. And the NYT is a very reliable source and should always be trusted. Anyone else, including but not limited to, businesswomen, journalists, Miss USA contestants, make up artists, porn actresses and waitresses are all liars looking for money. And the Guardian is a very unreliable source that should never be trusted.
illinilaw08
QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Throwing the word rape around like commonplace to malign the character of your political opposition doesn't make it any better. We live in a culture where men are expected to make the first move. They're not a rapist when they read the situation wrong. Trump didn't drug anyone. Trump didn't make any insertions without consent. He didn't stick any objects you smoke into any orifices. He didn't drug anyone. He didn't promise a job. If what he's accused of is rape then I imagine the vast majority of our presidents are rapists. Jill Harth sued Donald Trump in 1997 alleging sexual assault, including non-consensual groping of private parts - it settled out of court. A 1993 book on Trump asserts that he sexually assaulted Ivana Trump while they were married. A variety of other women have come forward and accused Trump of groping them without their consent. Groping someone without their consent is absolutely sexual assault.

Dick Allen
QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 02:55 PM) That's a false equivalency. Trump was never accused of grabbing someone by their p****. If your mother-in-law was upset with your wife and said "I could kill her right now" would you report it as a murder? Probably not because words aren't actions. Actually he has been accused of groping, but hey, he's a republican, it's cool.

The focus is on all of them. It's not just a quote from Trump. He has a long history of sexual assault allegations. I think 15 different women have accused of some sort of sexual misconduct of the years.

Trump is alleged to have stuck his hand up women's skirts to grab them, forced his tongue down women's throats, inappropriately touched women during job interviews. This post and the whole "men making the first move" excuse is freighting and shocking. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 02:52 PM) Mega DNC donator and friend of Clintons/Obama gets caught doing all sorts of sexual acts on people and the focus is on...a Trump quote from 2005. Youre living in a fantasy land. Weinstein has been the top news story on pretty much every outlet. The only reason people bring up Trump is because people (like you) defend the allegations against Trump because he is "their guy."
RockRaines
QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 02:01 PM) I am not really sure of what happened with O'Reilly but comparing the victims of the men listed with Trump's p**** comment is really messed up. People suffered because of Ailes, Cosby, Weinstein and perhaps O'Reilly as well. Trump's words, while crude, didn't create any victims. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. They are literally all so similar its hilarious. The fact that you dont see that is crazy. Women have suffered at the hands of the president, just like the other men mentioned. Soxbadger
QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) Women said he grabbed them by the p****? Yes: http://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2016-37641814 Claims: Ms Leeds, 74, from Manhattan, says Mr Trump groped her in the early 1980s, when she was sitting beside him in the first-class cabin of a flight to New York. She told the New York Times that around 45 minutes after take-off, Mr Trump lifted the armrest and started groping her. She claims the business mogul grabbed her breasts and tried to put his hand up her skirt. Name: Kristin Anderson Claim: Ms Anderson, now 46, told the Washington Post that Mr Trump reached up her skirt and groped her in a New York night club in the 1990s. Claim: Ms Harth told The Guardian in July that, over the course of their acquaintance, Mr Trump leered at her, made inappropriate comments, groped her and eventually cornered her in a bedroom during a 1993 visit to Mar-a-Lago. There, Ms Harth alleges "he pushed me up against the wall, and had his hands all over me and tried to get up my dress again... I had to physically say: 'What are you doing? Stop it.'" Harvey Weinstein is going to face repercussions for his actions and hopefully will receive justice. People are mounting a write-in campaign to vote out the DA that did not move forward against him. The people that stand up for women's rights cannot guarantee that all people that have ever claimed to support womens rights or supported a politician who supported womens rights had never sexually assaulted or raped a woman. They can try to ensure they receive repercussions and justice, however, and not sweep it under the rug, or, you know, elect them president. RockRaines
I think its pretty clear the attitude people can have to excuse and cover up actions like these. All of the excuses are being outlined in this thread. It's sickening that powerful men are allowed to repeatedly violate women with almost no repercussions, and in some cases have people DEFEND those actions. Awful. It shouldnt matter who is in what position, if women ( in some cases double digit number of them) report being sexually assaulted we need to start enabling them to be taken seriously or this is going to continue. And the fact that a large number of people elected one of those as President shows how little people care about this. This should not be a political ping pong ball like its being made to be. Every single person should be in an uproar about Ailes and O'reilly and Weinstein and Trump. Edited October 11, 2017 by RockRaines

illinilaw08
QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 02:14 PM) What's your point? Your words. That's not in any way what I was doing. This is a thread about Weinstein. For some reason it's all about Trump...I don't know why. Ironically, your post here would be a perfectly suited response to your opinions on Patrick Kane when he was sexually assaulting girls. I'm not the one defending Donald Trump against accusations of sexual assault by saying "rape /= sexual assault." I'm not the one defending Donald Trump because a number of the accusations came about in 2016. At no point have you said that, if true, Trump's behavior is wrong (by contrast, everyone in this thread has condemned Weinstein). So based on all that, either women are lying about being groped by Donald Trump, or you are ok with his behavior because it's only sexual assault. Trump is a great example of that. No hes not. Trump has never done that, all he ever did was admit to sexually assaulting women, but that's cool because its just "talk" and in our "culture" men sometimes accidentally misread the situation, so if they happen to put heir hand up a girls skirt, its just a mistake. CrimsonWeltall
QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 08:15 PM) Trump etched his place in history as the first president to enter the White House in favor of gay marriage. Obama was the first President to support SSM and did so at the crucial time in the fight for equal rights. The major shift in popular opinion on LGBT rights, and the national legal recognition of SSM both took place during his time in office. Trump's legacy on LGBT rights will be strictly *negative*, as he caters to the Religious Right and embraces their push-back against LGBT rights. He's already doing damage. And he's a keynote speaker at the anti-LGBT Value Voters Summit coming up. You got played.
