Yeah I don't disagree with that. Something like Dunning and Stephens would probably be about as much as I'd give up.

And I live in the Philly area so I listen to all the sports talk radio and watch some games. Franco isn't exactly the most popular in the city. Not that that means the phillies front office is listening and would trade him for cheap, but I would imagine they would at least listen. They like Galvis at SS for some reason, they were playing JP Crawford at 3B when he was brought up in September and platooning Franco between 1B and 3B. Ceasar Hernandez is a good player and they also have a 2B prospect with good pop named Kingery in AAA who is ready for a callup. They will have to make a decision on 1 of Franco/Galvis sooner or later basically.

You're right that there's no room for him in PHI, but Franco's a bust. I'm okay with giving a post-hype sleeper a shot, but I wouldn't trade prospects we like and AREN'T busts. You're right that they're going to have to move someone (Kingery is the best prospect in the system, IMO, btw), but they'd have to drop it pretty low to be worth it. I wouldn't give up Dunning.

Glasnow is the perfect White Sox fixer candidate. He has ridiculous stuff, but his problem is control. Those are exactly the type of arms Coop makes his living on.

But probably doesn't fit the type of player we are going to go after this winter. Seeing Franco mentioned earlier, I think they both fall into the same bucket. I don't see the Sox giving up any assets with future value to bring guys here this winter. Unless we get those guys in deals involved Avi or Abreu, I can't see it happening. The Sox aren't to the point where deals involving assets with potential future value at this stage of the rebuild. MAYBE next year, but not this year.

I wouldn't trade prospects for him, I'm just pointing out that he's exactly the type of arm that rebuilds his career with the White Sox.

He is still worth assets though. Maybe after another year or two of failure he might get waived, but no time soon.

Even if the asset(s) in return have future potential and are under team control for 3+ years? I know the old saying, and it is mostly true, you can never have too much pitching...BUT we need to get more young bats into the system as well sooner rather than later. I would have suggested a Fulmer swap for Franco but Fulmer’s signs of life at the end of the year bought him more time. I agree with not trading the 4 or 5 guys that have TOR potential, but I could definitely see us using some combo of Adams, Stephens, Guerrero, Clarkin type package to acquire another young hitter.

At least that’s what I’m hoping...If we can’t form a good future pitching staff out of Lopez, Gio, Fulmer, Cease, Rondon, Kopech, Hansen, Dunning, and Burdi then things have gone horribly wrong and we should just give up.

Im not quite as down on Franco as you, but Fair enough. Would you give up something like Stephens and Adams or still too much?

I would trade prospects for him. We are going to have a 40 man crunch soon so there is a possibility for 2:1 type prospect deal. In order for that to happen though, the Pirates would have to have given up on him.

The roster is still fine this year. Maybe next year.

This is a unique offseason. The White Sox did a fantastic job loading up the system. But by all means, it should not stop now. I know we want to see the first wave of young talent develop this year on the main roster: (Gioloto, Lopez, Fulmer, Moncada and yes even Anderson). But that next wave of prospects are not as close to contributing in 2018. Guys like Kopech, Hansen, Dunning, Jimenez and Rutherford are still a few years away. Until they get to that point and begin calling guys up, Hahn needs to what he has with veterans on the main roster. Guys like Avi, Davidson, Sanchez & Delmonico will have another full season proving their worth, but are they apart of the future contending team? Hahn needs to figure out what to do with players like this. Not only that, I would like to add more players like this in 2018 though free agency. The bullpen needs a complete makeover, there is still a gaping hole in CF, the C position can use a veteran and with Rodon being out, there is still room for a SP or 2. Hahn can easily add 7-8 veterans this winter through free agency with the hope of flipping them at the deadline for more prospect depth. Personally, I do not feel that Avi will be apart of the contending team. Hahn has the potential of selling pretty high this winter. He can also bet on Avi having a repeat type performance and possibly get a juicier package at the 2018 trade deadline.... regardless of what he decides to do this winter-- i am VERY interested. This team is headed in the right direction and I cannot wait for the future!!

I think you're dramatically underestimating how soon these guys will arrive. Kopech and Jiminez are likely to be up this year, IMO. We should even be thinking about where they are going to play - Kopech taking Shields's spot, avoid signing a big money corner OF unless he's tradeable for exactly that reason. Hansen I wouldn't even be surprised if they wound up approaching September callup thinking with him if he pulls off a full year at AA/AAA - I think he's a surprisingly early 2019 arrival.

This is still the White Sox. These guys are going to be pushed upwards aggressively. Jiminez and Kopech may well even deserve it by midseason. With a good first half you might even see guys you aren't thinking about make their debuts.

Hahn did say he will give these players as much time as possible. Now if they do force the issue, I would love to see them up here! But do you think that happens before September? I can see Kopech and Jimenez as being call ups then. Guys like Hansen and Dunning seem more like 2019 call ups or early add-ons for the 2019 season. For 2018, the #1 goal should be prospect development/ acquire more prospects through the trades of veterans. Sign as many 'buy-low' guys as they can and flip them. This will likely be the last year of the 'flipping' process before they give they give all of these kids a chance at this thing.

I'd be shocked if Kopech isn't up by mid season and I'm guessing Eloy is up before September as well. Hansen I can definitely see being a September call up too.

Yep, no chance Kopech & Eloy stay down much longer than the extra-year-of-control-cutoff point if they both stay on pace from where they ended this year.

If we want any chance of competing in 2019, we need to give some legitimate development time at the major league level next year to Kopech & Jimenes. I think if all goes well Kopech is up by the end of May & Jimenez by mid July. Hansen also has a good chance of reaching the majors before year-end.

Joc Pederson is another guy. The Sox need LH hitting (hi Lillian). The Dodgers seem to always have too many players but they usually use them. He's about to make some more money. I don't know it the Sox have anything that would interest them that isn't a prospect, but you never know.

They can take James Shields and add him to the collection and merry-go-round of starting pitchers.

I actually love this idea.. You get a really good defensive CF and one that has 25+ HR power. If he could bat .250 and hit 25 HR with his usual defense that is one really good player batting around 7. I'd figure he would be fairly inexpensive as well.

That sounds like a contributor to a championship team, but the Dodgers aren't likely to just give him away if he's that good. They'll likely want prospects that the White Sox shouldn't be giving up for him.

Also really like the idea of Joc...wonder if a Joc for Nate Jones trade would make sense? Definitely some debate there tho...1)Would we be selling low on an injured jones? 2) would the dodgers even be interested without seeing him healthy 1st?

Injured Jones is just regular Jones...there is no healthy Jones anymore.
