Balta1701
QUOTE (credezcrew24 @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 12:06 PM) If the Sox think Dee Gordon could play well in CF he could be an interesting candidate Ugh, please no more guys who are coming off the stuff. BlackSox13
My desire for Gordon has passed. Wanted him before the Dodgers traded him but now, no thanks. His entire game is based off his speed and I question how good that speed will be by the time the Sox are a contender again.

Squirmin' for Yermin
Why has no one mentioned Schwarber... If he were on any other team but the Cubs everyone would want him as our buy low guy.
Balta1701
QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 09:22 AM) Why has no one mentioned Schwarber... If he were on any other team but the Cubs everyone would want him as our buy low guy. I don't think it's very likely the Cubs trade him and we've got enough guys in our lineup who will need at bats that we really don't have a DH or corner OF spot for him. I'm not giving up anything of value for him with where we're at - talk to me in a year or two if they're closer to letting him go. Even guys like Fulmer have more value to me based on what our organization has. IF we're talking buy-low guys, I would be circling names of pitchers, starters and relievers. We have enough AAAA level guys to fight it out for lineup positions before the thing in RF arrives to take its rightful spot.

Doesn't really fit the the timeline. And they don't really have anything to acquire him that the Cubs would want anymore.

The problem is the guys the Cubs would want aren't the guys the Sox would trade.
witesoxfan
On June 2nd, Kyle Schwarber hit his season low OPS of .621. After that date, in 278 PAs, he put up a .246/.338/.561/.900 line. The dude isn't going anywhere.

With the needs in the rotation the Cubs have, someone is probably getting traded. Two things I do know is that it won't be the White Sox trading for him, and if a team does trade for him, it will be at a significant price. I could certainly see Ian Happ get flipped for a #3 starter and a reliever. Maybe something like Ian Happ for SP Dylan Bundy and RP Brad Brach. Maybe throw in Caratini if they had to. BlackSox13
Just my opinion but if I were the cubs I'd used Schwarber to try a nab a younger pitcher with team control and keep Happ. Then do the Heyward for Samardzija swap if SF is truly interested in Heyward. That said, I hope the cubs do neither of those.

Jerksticks
Plus Schwarber was pretty much platooned the second half and sat against some tough righties. The resurgence numbers are very very misleading. I don't think he fetches much, especially from NL teams.
Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 07:27 AM) Me, too. Schwarber is a liability in the National League. That being said, I don't really want to trade prospects for him and fill the DH spot. Well yeah, I think any team taking him would know he's a platoon player. But the left-handed part is going to be playing majority of the time since there are more righties than lefties. Just gotta have a Ryan Raburn type on your bench to split time with. But Theo is obsessed with Schwarber. He's his "told you so!" guy. He refuses to believe everyone who says he's just a DH. He is on record calling him "Babe f***ing Ruth". Theo is more likely to trade Rizzo or Bryant than he is Schwarber.

But hey, if Theo loves him that much then by all means they can have him and go ahead and trade Happ, which I doubt they do if they are able to move Heyward somehow.
