You tryin to be me???

But this is all ok, for once...My Dad just called me 10 minutes ago...He's a life-long Cubs fan, and is excited over this...Listening to the passion in his voice...I just can't bring myself to root against that passion of his, since I'm a caring daughter...He's 53 and has been through a lot in his life (experience wise, that is; not related to anything bad)...I'm happy for my dad.

Glad for your dad to have some excitement...

However, you need to get him converted to the southside.

My dad has come to a few Sox games with me and has rooted for the Sox just because I'm a Sox fan; he just likes the Cubs more.

For the record...My dad's high school graduation year happened to be the year of the infamous choke Cubs, 1969...He was very down in a summer of which he should have been in jubilation over.

Even though KW would never admit jealously or hatred towards the Cubs he has to be feeling it right now. This town was all Cubs even before this year began, and now with the Sox collapse and Cubs doing well in the playoffs he has to be feeling the pressure.

Not only does he have to put a quality team on the field next year, but has to keep the fragile Sox fanbase happy. If he trades big names like Thomas or Ordonez then the interest of the casual fan is lost. Many of those people dont understand that trading these marquee players will be better for our club. As Kw said, your not going to win a championship with a team full of sluggers.

As I write this Atlanta has one man on with no outs in the bottom of the 8th. Time for a damn rally.

This town was all Cubs even before this year began, and now with the Sox collapse and Cubs doing well in the playoffs he has to be feeling the pressure.

The only thing that will stop this from being a "sCrUB town" is if they move out of Chewing Gum Park.

That place is the ENTIRE reason for the Lovable Losers' appeal.

Yahoos from Iowa will NOT make the journey to Tribune Field in Arlington Heights, or even if they built "Harry Caray Memorial Stadium at Tribco Yards" at the same exact location.

The overwhelming majority of Cub followers aren't all that interested in the actual team - it's about their childhood memories of running home to see afternoon games on WGN, or it's about the ballpark, or it's about how LONG they've suffered...anything but the actual business of winning baseball games. If the sCrUBS do happen to win, it's a happy accident ( and a chance to get on TV whooping it up at Smiling J.P. McBullfrog's Irish Pub and Sports Bar and Grill ( or some other such trendy trap ).

Seems that the fascination with new ballparks is over, given the miserable attendance at places such as Miller Park and PNC ( although they actually care if their team wins or loses there, so that may not be an accurate comparison to the Cubbie Cultists ), so if the Trib ever did get sick of that neighborhood's residents, they'd have to re-create Chewing Gum Park exactly ( which they couldn't do AND stuff it with corporate suites ) to placate the Cultists.

Yeah those stupid Braves betta win the next 3 or there goes my Playoff Prediction. Atlanta's a perfect example of y u can't slug to way to a World Series. They play in a pitcher's park even with guys like Sheffield, Lopez and both da Jones's playin da way they hav this year.

Series tied at 1.  Prior vs. Maddux at Wrigley on Friday.  Sorry folks, but that is a must watch game.  It's the baseball purist in me.

It's the Old kid on da Block vs da New Kid on da Block. Should make for some great watching.
