Lol, you lost me with the double standard thing.

Moderator A says to Member B, "Do not personally attack posters - it is against board policy."

Moderator A later says to Member G, "You're a b****."

Of course, this is an exaggerated hypothetical example just to illustrate.

Let's just hope Pentecost makes it past the first 3 picks.

I can understand why a nearly 25 year old Pentecost went unprotected. Arm strength questions and has not been able to remain healthy. Not sure we bite with Zavala and Collins in the system.

Yes it is: https://www.thecubreporter.com/book/export/html/3525

So basically, only the Tigers and Giants have priority over the White Sox if they want Mark Appel.

Outside of being a top draft pick, what has Appel done to warrant any interest? He is 26 years old and has had almost no minor league success. I'd pass and focus on younger talent.

I'm not sure Appel is going to make it out of the NL. Plenty or rebuilding teams that could claim him.

Release waiver has always been based on record only. You’re talking about trade waiver (i.e. August trades), which the order is also based on the league player is in.

Pre-Winter Meetings Plan:

Sign:

RP Hector Rondon 1 year/3 million

RP Bruce Rondon 1 year/2 million

RP Xavier Cedeno 1 year/3 million

RF Carlos Gonzalez 1 year/10 million

Trades: I'm really conflicted on if the Sox are gonna make any trades. If they do trade Abreu, I think they should definitely trade Avi. If they trade Avi first, I want them to keep Abreu unless we get a Sale/Q type return for him.

Patrick Saunders‏

#Rockies GM Jeff Bridich said today that restocking bullpen and finding a catcher are top priorities entering winter meetings.

Finding corner bat possible, but not on front burner.

Going off this, I think I would trade Avi or Abreu to the Rockies. I know the Rockies have had interest in Abreu in the past. My proposal to the Rockies is Avi for 1B/3B Ryan McMahon and RHP Peter Lambert.

In this case, I would keep Abreu and try to extend him with a 4 year/70 million deal.

Thoughts?

Does anybody else think they may look at the market on Mike Moustakas? As it stands the White Sox really don't have a 3rd baseman. He is going into free agency on the younger side at 29 years old and won't command a long contract.

If the price gets dropped to 5/70 million maybe with some dollars front loaded to add more appeal wouldn't the White Sox have to consider. The last year he would be playing at age 33 which means you should be getting mostly prime years. He was an above average defender until last year when he became just slightly below which could have been an off year defensively.

Travis Sawhik wrote an interesting article coming to the conclusion that his power is real and could probably play even better in our park compared to a stadium like Kauffman that is a pitchers park.

Next years crop of 3Bs to me is not very good beyond Machado and Donaldson. I never put any stock in us actually being contenders next year for Manny Machado as the dollars and years would scare the Sox off. Josh Donaldson would be going into the following year at 33.

I think this would allow Jake Burger to take his time in the minors like we are doing with Collins. The White Sox could see how he develops, move either Burger or Moustakas when Abreu's contract is up.

No. They would have to give up their 2nd rounder to sign Moustakas. Not happening.

Ah. Good point. I actually thought it would be a 3rd but after reading the qualifying rules again you are correct. It would only be a third if they would receive some kind of revenue share.

Career .305 OBP.

I know he has a lot of quality traits (including lack of Ks), but the org. still doesn't have enough OBP from other players to compensate.
