Tnetennba
I fully admit that I have no idea of what the Silver Slugger voting criteria is, but Abreu beat Hosmer in all of these 'Slugging' categories sans Batting Average... Jose Abreu: .304 Average .552 SLG % .906 OPS 33 HR 102 RBI 82 XBH Eric Hosmer: .318 Average .498 SLG % .883 OPS 25 HR 94 RBI 57 XBH So...??? What gives?! jenksycat
Wait the Slugger is a vote? I thought it was purely statistical. That's stupid.
Quin
Jeter Gold Glove syndrome
ptatc
QUOTE (Quin @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 10:57 AM) Jeter Gold Glove syndrome Rapheal Palmeiro. He won the gold Glove one year when he played 130 (or close) games at DH.
witesoxfan
Boras is going to use it to increase Hosmer's AAV which will help cripple some team down the line, so I'm OK with this for that reason alone.
BigHurt3515
For the longest time I thought Silver Slugger was given to the player with the highest BA that qualified
bmags
It is by far the most worthless award so I don’t feel that bitter. Hopefully Jose doesn’t include SS as a contract incentive
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Nov 10, 2017 -> 08:29 AM) Wait the Slugger is a vote? I thought it was purely statistical. That's stupid. It's a vote from MLB managers and coaches. So like any vote, even among guys you think would know better or delve into stats more, yes, the more name worthy candidates win it usually from winning teams. Seager won over Cozart and Goldschmidt over Votto. There are also other debatable winners.
Marky Mark
Are stolen bases supposed to be included in the criteria for the SS?
