greg775
Is this a pipe dream or do you agree George will probably fire Torre if the Yanks lose to Minn? Unless Torre is burned out and might want to be an announcer (who could blame him?) wouldn't he be great for our SOX?? Let's face it, George will probably axe him if the Yanks get swept by Minnie. I'd take Joe in a heartbeat, you guys n girls?

MurcieOne
I'd rather find a manager that has won with little talent, rather than a guy like torre who has had a team handed to him on a silver platter... but he's a good italianguy, and if he became managr I wouldnt be angry. DonkeyKongerko
I don't think Torre is the type of manager the White Sox need. Personality-wise that is. Plus he is gonna command a huge salary just based on his record with the Yanks.

Hell, If I was JR I would fire KW and hire Billy Beane, whose book by the way is awesome.
YASNY
I think Torre would be an excellant choice. He'd certainly command respect from his players, to say nothing of the fans and media. Besides, I met the guy when was manager at St. Louis. Helluva nice guy.
DBAHO
I can so see Georgey boy blowing that team up if they lose to da Twinkies. Torre will be canned, Bernie Williams mite be gone (couldn't throw out Guzman on the sac fly) and half da pitching staff won't be back. Also, I could not believe Steinberner complaining that the Yanks weren't on in prime time during the night gettin da national fox sports coverage. I mean come on, Cubs and Braves 2 of the most heavily supported teams in da countries and the Cubbies haven't been in da playoffs since how long? Torre mite be out of our price range though, wouldn't mind him here though.

DBAHO
I really hope da Twinkies sweep that series, cos I really want to see that Yankee team get blown up by Steinberner. I'd just think it'd be so funny to watch, lol.

Texsox
I think JR would pay for the right manager. And take it from player's salaries. That's my only worry. Salary is salary and I'd hate to lose a quality player to get Torre ir any other manager. How about Jerry Manuel, I hear he's available. He was just Manager of the Year in 2000 and his teams are in at almost every year.

Kid Gleason
I think Jerry has seen what happened on the other side of town and is willing now to do what is right. If he doesn't go out and get somebody good, especially if the Cubs get to the Series (which I fear they will), he almost has no choice to get the best there will be out there. In all honesty though, I am not expecting Torre to get fired. Steinbrenner will shoot off his mouth, but I don't think even he is so arrogant that he would let Torre get away, the city would probably not show up next year! How funny would it be though if he did let Torre go, we got him, and Steinbrenner took Manuel!

Reinsdorf don't give two yaks nuts about what is going on on the Northside. JR should be attempting to field the most competitive team every year regardless of what the Cubs do. He doesn't. He's perfectly happy paying for mediocrity as long as he shows a profit at the end of the year. It's going to stay that way. First Place? Last Place? Who cares? Just show me the green!!!!! The important thing is getting the players back and getting a new middle infield. You know Ozzie and Backman can be had for cheap and I think either would be solid. I look at all those non nonYankee years and thing, why would we want him? I'll answer your question. Torre took the superstar filled roster on the New York Yankees and made them play team baseball. They didn't play for personal stats, they played for wins. What Torre did before New York is irrelevent because he's a different person now than he was then. More experience and knows what it takes to win. That's why I want him.
YASNY
Based on his history of paying for top talent in the player department? There is a huge difference in the amount of money between a top notch player and a top of the line manager. You'd get more "bang for your buck", so to speak, including some very favorable publicity.
