Boopa1219
https://twitter.com/DanHayesMLB/status/930148376607444992 I really enjoyed reading Haye's stuff on CSN.com and I thought he was pretty good and really informative on the Sox talk podcast. I wonder who will replace him and where Hayes will end up.
thxfrthmmrs
QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 04:34 PM) I’d bet a good amount of money he won’t be replaced. Yep, that's usually what company-wide restructuring means. Cutting budget by eliminating positions or have someone else take over your position at a part time basis. iamshack
I got to know Dan a little bit over the past several months, and I have to say, this is really unfortunate. White Sox baseball lost a bit of solid perspective today. Edited November 15, 2017 by iamshack
Lip Man 1
QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 08:14 PM) Nice.... I didn't think he was that good Tony and he always appeared uncomfortable when he was on TV. As someone who was on TV for 15 years that'something I notice. He'll be fine...if he is as good as some believe he should be able to find another good position somewhere.

You’re entitled to your opinion and I’m entitled to tell you that’s a low class thing to say, especially since it’s highly likely he frequents these boards. Show some class and decorum. So because he sometimes came off a bit nervous on TV, you didn't like him as a reporter of White Sox baseball. Seems fair.
ChiliIrishHammock24
Anyway, Dan was really great. Seems super genuine and honest. I liked his coverage, and he always seemed like he was genuinely interested and committed. Really hope he lands somewhere in this market. Lip Man 1
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 11:51 PM) So because he sometimes came off a bit nervous on TV, you didn't like him as a reporter of White Sox baseball. Seems fair. Part of his position included a lot of TV face time, that was part of the job. He was better as a print guy and in my opinion for whatever reason it wasn't working for him for the TV standpoint. Again I go back to what I said earlier, he'll be fine and will find something else....especially if he is as good as some are posting. Lip Man 1
QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 11:20 PM) If only everyone was blessed with your TV skills...If only. Tony my comment in no way was trying to be arrogant towards my work. I was on TV for 15 years that's a fact and because of that background that's something I look for. Period. Nothing more, nothing less. Sorry you don't like my opinion. I thought he was OK. I thought for being in the 3rd biggest market in the country someone better could have been hired. hi8is
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 10:29 AM) Yeah, you could tell he was nervous on camera I forget what year it was - perhaps 2011 when we signed Dunn / AJ / Paulie or 2016 when Sale and Eaton were traded... but Hayes was featured for the first time in a segment from the Winter Meetings and he was so nervous you could feel the fear emanating from the TV. I thought it was cute.
Dick Allen
I thought he got rid of the nervousness. He was fine the past couple of years. I would imagine being mostly a writer and then getting regular on air gigs , takes some adjusting. I liked his content. It wasn't just all fluff pieces like we will now see. But that sells a little better I guess. I think if Dan had some more time on his contract, he wouldn't have been laid off. I wonder if Scotty Pods will be back in a part time pre and post game role. I don't know what he added. I don't watch the Cubs much but was Patrick Mooney used on their telecasts as much as Dan was on the White Sox? Maybe they are starting to prepare for the Cubs fleeing and like Gonzo with the Tribune only in reverse, Mooney will switch to the White Sox when they flee. Heaven forbid it take somebody time to adjust to something that was new to him. Some people who put thoughts on paper probably need adjustment time to formulating the words. You could say, "Then hire somebody who can speak in a camera!" Well that person might not write as well or have the contacts of this writer. Some people are so mean. Chicago White Sox
Dan really grew on me over the years. I really enjoyed his work on the CSN Chicago White Sox podcast this year. Nothing against Merkin, but sucks to lose a dedicated beat writer who isn’t a mouthpiece for the organization. Hopefully he finds another job in Chicago. Also, f*** SSS Larry for being a dick to him on Twitter that one time. Dan handled his s*** pretty well all things considered.
