FS: A Good Problem - too many A-ball outfield prospects

There are roughly a dozen actual prospect outfielders that should be in A-ball, but not nearly that many slots for them to fit into. What will the Sox do with this strength of the system?

Didn't Hahn say he was likely to open in Kanny or Winston?

That Kanny group looks niiice.

 

Robert/Rutherford/Gonzalez/Dedelow could be deadly.

Hahn has said to expect to expect him in A ball. He'll either be in Kannapolis or Winston-Salem.

 

Hahn said probably A-ball. But that could change. He was the toughest call, I guessed Kanny, but W-S is also possible as is Ext ST. He'll be in full season ball at some point without much doubt.

Some of those older guys aren't really prospects. Whether they are ready or not they'll be the ones promoted to make space.

 

From an organizational standpoint they'll probably want to see what they have anyways.

Good article Matt! I think you nailed these IMO. As much as I'd like to believe that Robert could seamlessly make the jump to WS, I think you need to break him in easy (unless he looks light years better than everyone in ST). 100-150 ABs to prove himself at Kanny shouldn't hurt him. That also gives a guy like Basabe or Call some time to get off to a good start and earn a promotion once Eloy goes up to AAA. That Kanny OF is going to be nuts with those 3 there. WS should be pretty fun too if Call eventually moves up to accomodate Robert.

I do wonder if you could just keep Joel Booker as a 4th and try to use the DH as much as possible to find at bats while this is sorted out. I agree with being aggressive with Fisher, and ideally Call has a hot start and you can be aggressive with him.

That’s absolutely nuts IMO. Isn’t the Cuban League considered to be the equivalent of High A? I think Robert should start in Kannapolis and move up after a month or so. There’s no good reason to be overly conservative with his development.

Right on. Robert really has not played a lot of baseball the last two seasons; he does not need to sit around until late June waiting for the Rookie League to start. He needs playing time.
