Bmr31
Not only is baseball fun to watch, its a very complicated game. Every single at bat is a game within the game. I mean one of the broadcast guys just mentioned that Pedro threw a 1-2 inside pitch to Durazo on purpose to ensure Durazo wouldnt cheat to the outside of the plate. This is one reason I love this game so much. There is always something going on, there is always thinking going on, and its almost like a chess match. I love it.......... DonkeyKongerko
That was a great at-bat the Pedro/Durazo matchup. This is what it's all about.

Chisoxfn
Hockey...please...I don't think any sport can get you more nervous then watching baseball. You can just sit at the edge of the seat and you also can stratigize etc. Say your team has runners on your hoping they make contact and don't whiff. If in the opposite situation your like come on get the dp, etc. So many things especially in close games. Plus when your smart you can strategize and try to predict things. I love watching baseball games.

Chisoxfn
LMAO, Hockey.... It gets my vote for worse sport. I can't stand watching a hockey game unless it means something. I think this was the first Stanley Cup Finals where I actually watched more then five minutes of the games. Hockey...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The last season, I went to my first hockey game, it was a Ducks game, so I became semi-interested after they made there run, but it's very boring to watch live or on TV. I find it hillarious though how the guy from Chino is the "Bad Guy". "Eww...he's from Chino". ROFL

DonkeyKongerko
Any other sport sucks cuz they are all based on the clock. When the clock runs out you lose. In baseball, the clock never runs out and a team can score as many runs as they want with 2 out in the ninth inning.
Cali
You'll never see a Hockey game as exciting as that game was.

The Critic
If there was a preseason NHL game on TV opposite a non-Sox baseball game, I'm tuned in to the hockey! Hockey is BY FAR my favorite sport - no other sport comes close. I have almost ZERO interest in the MLB playoffs - I think I've seen enough baseball for one year, and I certainly don't want to watch the Braves, Cubs, Giants, or Yankees. ugh.... I like the Red Sox and A's but I have to get up too early to watch a 9pm start time.

Authors have written long books and you have distilled it all in one short paragraph. I'm with you on this, baseball is truly the greatest sport ever invented. Let me add one thing. The ghosts and legends are always with us. In 50 years kids will talk about the great Barry Bonds. Baseball has history like no other sport. Harry Chappas
It is majestic. I do not know what that word means but it seems to soud like it fits in the spirit of this thread. Except for the bikini paint ball portion.
DBAHO
Hmmm well in Baseball there r so many different types of great plays u can hav happen. Ramirez's gem against Sheffield for example, and in Baseball the whole game can change on 1 play. That doesn't happen in Basketball, or Hockey cos u still got time to make up for it. SuperSteve
I dunno... I think I'd have to play that Bikini Paint Ball before I agree 100%... I played bakini paint ball before. It's not quite to the level of baseball. Baseball is a great game, but the greatest sport ever is wrestling. Can ya really argue with the Greeks? They were doing it during the first Olympiad. Also no sport has to worry about nearly as much leading up to the match; weight and hydration, endurance, muscle, and any infections (ie ring worm, etc). Plus it is just a brutal sport, where truely only the strong survive. There is no where to run when your on the mat. You can't hide from everyone watching you get your ass kicked. You can be taken out and replaced if your struggling. There is nothing like getting your hand raised though infront of tons of people. I know I am bias, but just the beating wrestlers bodies take. Plus it is year round. Only in warmer climates can you play baseball year round. Hockey doesn't even compare. I went to a few Hawk's games last year, but only the playoffs excite me. Wrestling has also has international implecations too. Countries do not go to the World Championships because of the problems between the US and the Middle East. Iran and such countires stayed home when the World's were in NYC. The US team did not travel to Iran either.
CubKilla
Baseball is the greatest of the big four (baseball, football, basketball, and hockey) games ever invented for one reason..... baseball is the only game where you cannot score when you're on the defense. elrockinMT
Baseball is AMERICA! Look at all the great movies made based on baseball. Field of Dreams and the speech by James Earl Jones is a classic. Football is ok, but really what is the rationale for two herds of buffalo charging at each other for no apparent reason? Hockey is the only sport I know where nothing happens until 5 overtimes have come and gone and how exciting is soccer when all they do is run back and forth and it ends in a 0-0 tie? Yes, folks it is beisball and it's been bery bery good to us.
SAVVY18
I'm with Heather and the Critic on this one. Overall, baseball is a boring game to watch. In regards to the pitcher setting up the hitter, etc. The same nuances exist in hockey, but the average person doesn't understand all of the things going on. Do you think players/goalies aren't trying to set each other up for the next shot? What about sending certain players out to force the opposing coach to adjust? That is also the game within the game. Also you don't have a guy trying to hit you while you hit the baseball, you can just concentrate on hitting it. Why wouldn't you want to be able to score when you are on defense? What makes it better is the fact that both teams can score at any time...players have to be able to play offense and defense at the same time. Personally, I will stay up until all hours of the night to watch hockey games. Baseball, not so much. That's my 2 cents.

I don't really "get up" for the MLB playoffs when the Sox aren't involved, which is why you haven't been seeing me posting here much lately...I'm now focusing solely on The Most Holy day of obligation--the Opening Day for NHL Hockey, which is, by the way, in six days, as well as moderating and writing game reports for Blackhawkzone.com!!! Baseball's nice, but hockey's the greatest!!! It's the fastest sport, so how can it be boring?
