Just what this council needs: the insights of baseball’s most tenured yet most severely flawed and obviously most failed owner with a seat at its table. Lip Man 1
With all this speculation now coming out, given the anger being felt by the MLBPA and players, about what happens when the labor agreement expires after the 2021 season, if JR is still with us, it'll be interesting to see if his views have changes any since the early 90's (which changed considerably from when he bought the team in 1981.) Of course the current deal expires after 2021. 2022 will almost certainly be in this team's competitive window.

Let's hope there's not another strike then. Shades of 81 and 94, both times the Sox were rolling, there was a lot of fan excitement and things were looking very promising....then... It couldn't happen three times when the Sox were good could it?
Hamhock
Considering the JR's original objection to Manfred being Commissioner was that he didn't think Manfred was hard enough on the MLBPA during previous CBA negotiations, what do you think? I bet the other owners feel he has done an outstanding job. Getting a basically free stadium, keeping players salaries down, getting new draft slotting rules, international bonus caps. Getting a basically free stadium, keeping players salaries down, getting new draft slotting rules, international bonus caps. Perhaps his time these past 37 years would have better spent as an executive of MLB rather than as owner of our White Sox, given these so-called accomplishments of which you speak have not led to the success of the White Sox organization. This is from the owners not the fans. By your own discussions you agree that he hoards money and doesn't spend it on his team. I would think that would be a plus in the eyes of the owners.
