BurlyMan56
Per Jeff Passan on Twitter This is a new one: Esteban Loaiza, drug kingpin. The second-winningest pitcher from Mexico in MLB history was arrested Friday with 20 kilos of heroin or cocaine, according to San Diego police records. He'll be in court Wednesday to face felony drug charges. Details are in pics. He was just at Sox Fest a few weeks ago. His charges are detailed in the photos. SoxAce
Yikes. Shades of Sam Hurd right there. As a fellow (half) Mexican, this is very disappointing to hear.
bmags
That's really sad. He could have made such a big impact and this is what he decided to do. Really disappointing.

Really disappointing. There had been rumors (mexican tabloids and such) that he's been around this stuff his whole career so who knows. Dick Allen
QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 12, 2018 -> 09:33 AM) Is he really a kingpin or is he more of a mule? Kingpins don't get caught red handed. They are insulated.

SleepyWhiteSox
Kinda random but it's a really strange coincidence that Roy Halladay, who he lost the Cy Young to, died in a plane crash as did his wife who he was in the process of divorcing, the singer Jenni Rivera. TaylorStSox
Baseball players have to be a great market to sell cocaine. Lots of money. Lots of long road trips and hours. Lots of alcohol and partying. Doesn't stay in your system long. Somebody has to get all these players their coke.

knightni
Millionaires with disposable income can get into "investment" opportunities with the cartels. Who knows how deep some ex-players could be in these things.

If he's handling that much "product" directly he's pretty deep in but not deep enough (or smart enough) to only be "the bank".
