Nick Cafardo‏ @nickcafardo 7h7 hours ago The union is not allowing media at their free agent camp in Bradenton. Wonder what they're afraid of? Poor turnout perhaps? Are major league scouts also not allowed? Really odd decision. The players haven't had a good offseason. And it continues.

Some good quotes as usual from Fegan's reporting:

Yolmer on being the first player to go to arb in years:

“I prefer to…[laughs]…don't ask,” said Yolmer Sanchez, the victor of a $2.35 million salary, with a smile. “You can talk to my agent.”

Sanchez is always the sunniest person in the room, and that doesn't seemed to be outwardly lessened by going to court with his employer over $250,000, or the prospect of being a super utility man again. He's a natural middle infielder on a team with Yoan Moncada and Tim Anderson, but he might be the best third baseman currently on the roster, so he figures to get plenty of opportunities to build on a career-best 94 wRC+ in 2017, even if his position isn't set in stone for years to come.

Miguel on Omar Narvaez:

“He's not fluffy anymore,” Gonzalez joked.

Narvaez clearly doesn't have that much experience at building “best shape of my life” narratives. He didn't have a specific number for his weight loss, or “pounds of muscle” added, but he looks svelte, not that he ever looked like anything bigger than a man who is paid to block baseballs with his body before.

“I worked out a lot,” Narvaez said. “I feel like I got a little bigger but it all depends. Once the games start we’ll see.”

Cease on being invited to his first big league spring training:

“I was really excited,” Cease said. “I probably called my dad right away and let him know. I was pumped.”

Cease said he's had a full and normal offseason after a brief bout with shoulder fatigue at the end of last year. After 10 days of rehabbing at instructional league in October, he threw bullpens without issue and ramped up like he usually would for the season. Now that he's around major leaguers, his goal is to stop himself from overthrowing too much trying to impress everyone.

White Sox Talk‏Verified account @NBCSWhiteSox You never know... Joakim Soria thinks the #WhiteSox could be the surprise team in the #MLB this season

Everything has to go right...but it's possible. I'm not counting on it though because it's rare that everything clicks for young players right away.

Daryl Van Schouwen‏Verified account @CST_soxvan 1h1 hour ago Carlos Rodon playing catch again today, first back to back in rehab. ‘Everything felt good. Just felt healthy—for once.’ Throwing free, easy, with no fear, he said.

I've been cynical as hell on his situation but this is really great news. That he's throwing near full bore (relative to the time of year) is highly encouraging. Obviously the proof will be in the pudding (his performance and innings load) but I was fully expecting him to be still on the "no timetable for starting baseball workouts" program at this point.

He still is this phase as far as I can tell from all reports. He is only playing catch. He's not into an actual throwing program.

I just took it from his comments "free, easy, no pain" that he will be starting his program soon. I thought he'd be in the "hasn't picked up a baseball yet" stage and still doing his rehab.
