He has been at 92 at times. My issue isn't the velocity, but the location of his secondary pitches. I don't think he has spotted 1 all night in the right spot. He has hit a batter, tossed a wild pitch, another 3 or 4 have gone to the backstop, has walks, has been behind all night, threw 1 pitch BEHIND a hitter and somehow the kid has found a way to battle through.

That all said, against someone like Cleveland this game would have been over by now.

I agree, he's missed his spots a bunch. If Sanchez didn't save his ass on the liner it would look much worse. Like I said I think he can't get loose and it is affecting his throwing motion, leading to both the missed spots and decreased FB velo.

Oh I agree. The conditions are not that good and his erratic secondary offerings are likely at least caused by his ability to get the proper feel on the ball given the weather.

As someone said chalk this start up to that reason. He'll learn from it and figure out how to adjust in the future.

The fact he's doing "this well" with such limiting offerings is a good sign...once he gets his stuff dialed in he'll be a damn good pitcher.

This infield defense has a chance to be pretty spectacular.

Yoan and Sanchez are always gonna be positives, and Abreu will likely remain in his slightly below average state (luckily, at the least important defensive position on the diamond), but if Tim plays short the way we know he's capable of... man, that is just flat out elite.

I actually really like the decision to put Giolito out there one more inning. Could of backfired but our number one goal this season is to develop the kids and Lucas needs to learn how to pitch without his best stuff.

Ding! This is it. What we saw there was Gio building for the future. It sucks to be losing to these turkeys, but Ian Kennedy is not a bum and our young pitcher I think took another step toward being a PRO
