We open up a spot for Harvey, reduce salary even further, and obtain a player with potential trade value later in the season if Coop can fix him. I don't know why the Mets would do it. And really, the only reason the White Sox would do it is for the money. Shields is a guy that supposedly is really good for the young pitchers. If Kopech is getting the call, you probably want him in the clubhouse more than Harvey.

I am not interested in giving up Castillo, Smith, or Narvaez at this point, and definitely not Zavala or Collins.

flavum
Good. Can’t believe the Mets got that much, but not our problem. Edited May 8, 2018 by flavum
justBLAZE
Harvey was traded to the Reds for catcher Devin Mesoraco. per Chris Cotillo on twitter.
Jose Abreu
Tremendous deal for the Mets. I would've offered Kevan Smith if I were Hahn.
Dick Allen
Meseroco had 1 good year 4 years ago and got paid. Junk for junk deal.
EvilJester99
Source: Reds paying remainder of Mesoraco’s $13.125M salary. Mets paying remainder of Harvey’s $5.625M.

Another team friendly pre arb deal that worked out way better for the player. Although he has injuries as an excuse. Played 114 games in 2014 and was an All-star. Has played a total of 113 games in the 3+ years since.
soxforlife05
We don't need this guy. Has a bad attitude on top of all the struggles. Don't bother. Please pass, he's done. Edit: Didn't read entire thread for the update, glad the Sox passed. Edited May 9, 2018 by soxforlife05
wrathofhahn
His velocity had an uptick according to media reports I read hard to see how that happened. Maybe the days off?
caulfield12
New environment and teammates, fresh start...long time off. Adrenaline. 95-96 isn’t that far off from the 93-95 he has typically been at this year. Wait and see how he fares against better lineups. TheTruth05
I saw on Twitter the day of his start that he only generated 2 swing and misses in his 4IP? I could be wrong but it seems like he got lucky.
