Soxplosion
I do love the dead spot in RF when Sosa snoozes. I guess we don't have to wonder if Dusty moves the defense around or not Oh ok, it wasnt even about me. I was sure youd call me out on the bandwagoning Cubs fans. But dont even try now... Soxfest
There is NO guarentee JR would of paid Sosa when he became a FA, everyone talks like it was a non factor, Sosa still would of been a Sox player If not traded.
SuperSteve
I don't care for Lyons, but I did enjoy him talking about how poor the Cubs outfield arms are. Larry hits a homerun right as he's talking about it. :fthecubs
CubKilla
What a joke. I don't even know if management regrets it. I sure as hell know the fans don't care. Yeah. That guy we've had to settle for in RF the past 5 or 6 season really blows. :fyou STFU Lyons..... you tool I know I would pass on a guy that became popular nation wide and would have brought the White Sox nation wide attention. Yeah..... in '98..... maybe. After that, as pro-Cubs as the local and national media are, you'd be hard-pressed to hear anything about ShamME Soso if he was on the Sox today. Especially after he gets caught with a corked bat. Would just add to our misery.
1549
Oh yeah. I forgot. We have Maggs. Maggs is a team player who does just as much if not more than Sosa. I dont care if Sosa fills seats. Hes a loser. Homeruns? Think we need more homeruns? 220 isnt enough? s***, think RBIs. Sosa only had four more RBIs than Maggs. Big f***in' deal. I have a really tough time believing Sosa wants to win a ring. Look at reason #5 to see why I can think this. And you said, no one outside the White Sox nation notices or cares. I dont care if they dont care. Like I said, Sosas lovers are blind morons who couldnt recognize a team player if he s*** in their mouths... Don't think for a minute that Magglio would not exist if we had Sosa. Magglio has the athletic ability to play left field and if Sosa were are right fielder, Magglio would have come up in left field in 1997. Good players work there way onto major league rosters, and magglio is a good player and would still be on the team. Hell maybe he would even play center. It is impossible to say that you don't want anymore home runs, its like saying I don't want a nicer car, or I don't want more money. More is better, period, and I am a baseball purist, I would trade Lee, Magglio, Crede anybody for good pitching, but I know that you can not have too many home runs. Lets face it if you were asked if you could take back the 1992 trade, you would take it back. And if you don't you shouldn't be a white sox fan because it gave our biggest rival, both on the field and in the war for fans a hall of famer. 1549
ok look at it this way... Attention brings fans, fans bring money, money brings players, players bring rings...there you have it, the easiest way to win in major league baseball And how many rings does Sammy have? As I stated earlier, the cubs have not won because their front office is full of idiots. Lets look at a few examples: 1) decided that Frank Castillo was a better value than Greg Maddux. 2) thought they could win with only sosa and henry rodriguez at the heart of their order 3) until now have never pursued stud starting pitching But it is impossible to debate that filling seats does not bring in money, because it does, and it is impossible to say that buying players is one way to win a world series (just take a look at the yankees, they have bought 4 in 7 years)
1549
Am I the only one who thinks that because SamME played on the North Side, everything he has ever done wrong has been covered up and sugar-coated, but had he done EVERYTHING the same on the South Side, that everything would be used against him, tearing down his repuation, making the White Sox look like cheaters, and SamME Sosa NOT being one of the "nice guys" in baseball. Catch my drift? It's a definate possibility. Pete Rose is an asshole, he doesn't get sugar coatedbut people still love him, including myself, and would come out in droves to see him inducted. Barry Bonds is an asshole the media hates him with a passion, and his potential steroid abuse gets 1,000 times more publicity, and he gets booed wherever he goes...still, he fills seats. Soxplosion
Ok, so now, instead of kicking Maggs out, you want Lee out? He had ten more RBIs than Sosa. So instead of Maggs with four less being the goat, youre gonna choose Lee with ten more? Lee is a rising star, Sosas a sinking ship. And your arguments sinking right there with him... cwsox
I completely disagree with what you are saying. I hate Sosa now, but I wish we hadn't traded him to the cubs and I wish more that he was still on the White Sox. gotta disagree - one of the happiest days of my life was when we traded him away and I have never once regretted trading him away

Once again who is to say Lee is out, how do you know we wouldn't have taught Magglio how to play center, and Lee is still in. Or how do you know sosa wouldn't play centerfield, he was certaintly capable before he started putting on weight like a sumo. How do you know we wouldn't have traded Lee for some good pitching (remember Lee didn't come out of nowhere, he was listed as one of baseball's best hitting prospects). Sure Lee and Magglio are better than sosa right now, Sosa is older now and losing his bat speed and is running out of ways to cheat, but trading sosa is just dumb . And by the way, my argument is the same now as it was when it started so how can you say it is sinking? You may not agree with my opinion, but you can not say it is sinking when it is exactly the same as it was before.

I hate Sosa now, but I wish we hadn't traded him to the cubs and I wish more that he was still on the White Sox. gotta disagree - one of the happiest days of my life was when we traded him away and I have never once regretted trading him away I regret it for 3 reasons: 1) we traded him to the cubs 2) Larry Himes said he would be good, and while working with the Sox Larry Himes was never wrong (see: McDowell, Fernandez, Bere, Thomas, Ventura, Cameron, Durham, traded for Alvarez, Sosa, Johnson) that is a s***load of young talent that he was right about. 3)He has put up hall of fame numbers since he left. And nobody can say that he is the reason the cubs haven't won, because his numbers have always been good, and being a jerk does not affect a team enough to cause that team to lose 100 games, as Billy Bean said in his book, team chemistry means nothing. Rex Hudler
Reasons to hate Sosa: -Hes a bat corking cheater I hate to be like this, but how can Sox fans just ignore the fact that their starting catcher got busted using a corked bat just a year ago?? There are corked bats in every clubhouse in the Majors and Minors. Stop acting like Sammy is the only baseball player on earth to ever use one. Reasons to hate Sosa: He cares only about himself, not the team Umm, can you say Frank??
Rex Hudler
I also dont care about attention. Attention doesnt bring rings. Team players do... Yet, the kid worships Frank. LOL
