Yeah but even if he knows he will lose the appeal it would buy us more time for Smith to hopefully get healthy so we don't have to worry about playing Alfredo Gonzalez

Sorry if I was unclear -- what I was meant to say is that he probably dropped the suspension.  Just like Cano did.  Although in Cano's case it corresponded to his DL time.

There's too much BS surrounding the testing in MLB imo.  These leaks are not good for anybody.  If Wellington is being suspending tmr it's not a great look for the news to break from some Dominican reporter (kudos to him) and not from MLB or the Sox themselves -- while Wellington is playing mind you.

If a guy tests and appeals (not saying this is necessarily the case here) then there should be an announcement.  Not this hush hush shit until he drops it.

I think there's a pretty good chance that Welington is the one who told the reporter.

As far as the appeal process, I think while it's not great for the fans you just can't have anything be made public by the league until the player is being punished. It would be very difficult for a player to rehab his reputation if it turns out he had an alibi or it was a false positive.

Well, that was a good game.

Might have a find with Covey - he had no chance last year, essentially moving from A ball to the majors.

This org has more success with the back end of other teams prospect lists than they do front-line line veterans.

Renteria's brilliant for one game, at least.

Jose Rondon as DH, who woulda thunk it coming out of ST?

Rondon is quite the athlete. He got game. Ricky is taking volunteers for catcher.

Covey has picked up about 1 1/2 MPH on his (average) fastball from last year...

Hardest pitch he threw last year was 97.2 and 96.8 this year.

Interesting how he threw so much harder his sixth start last year and then again last night...not sure what, if anything, that's indicating
