Oh I 100% agree, it’s a very unique strategy whatever they are doing.

So for the 2nd year in a row the Sox has offered the most signing bonus to college guys drafted after the 1st round, guys who aren't universally viewed as first rounders. It isn't just slightly overslot, they're over by a huge amount. In Sheet's case, that could be late 2nd/ early 3rd money to a HS kid. Think you are going to see more rotational fun with Forbes, Laz, Madrigal, and Yrizarri. We will also see the accompanying wondering if one of them is injured whenever they don't play a game.

The funniest part to me is that some website said the signing was official and it was for slot and that tweet was their source. I just had to shake my head because that tweet literally says neither of those things.

oldsox
Sox don't need to sign Madragal; at slot, esp if they have a chance at one of those high school kids.

They can still sign Davis Martin for up to like $450K without losing a pick next year. Just would have to pay overage tax.

I didn't elaborate enough there, but mainly referring to the late HS picks and not Martin.
