God dammit umps, why do you continue to ring up Moncada on Balls?????? This is beyond infuriating now.

Another Moncada K on a pitch outside the strike zone. He might benefit more than anyone from robo-umps.

Moncada called out at the ankles

The ball had half of the bottom of the zone according to pitchcast

At what point does the coaching staff start telling Moncada to protect?  Cuz the zone against him is beyond ridiculous.

They probably should, although only where he realistically can. The spot in the first inning he can hit, but he struggles to make contact with strikes in places like high and outside corner so in those cases there's no use sealing your fate by whiffing on it.

April of 2018. That at bat was horrible. He's also pulling off the offspeed pitches so badly. Been going on for far too long.

1-2 low fastball is about as good of a pitch as he can ask for. Not really sure what his game plan is.

Wow that was a depressing inning to hear from Hawk.  He was very choked up to the point he sounded like Bill Clinton.

I remember that day he announced the Drysdale passing. I was watching. They gave him the note and he was all hyped and then his tone just changed and started sobbing through the reading...

Wow, strike 1 to Moncada was 5” outside.

It doesn’t sound like Hawk is a big fan of Moncada. He’s usually slobbering over prospects with Moncada’s tools, calling them a bundle of talent and a bunch of other nonsense, but not Moncada.

Pitchtrax had strike 2 way outside

Hard to blame Moncada for swinging at everything at this point. He has a ridiculously huge zone for these umps. I can't figure it out.

It's so obvious Moncada needs to back off the plate a bit. Pitches on the inner half keep jamming him. He hasn't pulled a homer in 2 months.

No I think he's flustered by how incredibly huge his strike zone is. He's confused about what is a ball and strike, and it is messing with his head. Umps need to call the zone like they do for others with him. He gets hosed up, down, inside and outside and it varies game to game. I really think the umps have it in for him for some reason. No other explanation.

Still has flaws in his swing.  When's the last time you saw him turn on an inside fastball and rip it down RF line. He started going to left field again earlier in the week, but that hasn't carried over to this series so far.

you gotta have confidence to pull the ball and he has none because the umps are fucking with his head.
