ttommarello823
Why not just go for the 3-6-3 double play?

Instead it was a play a Little Leaguer would make But you are going on instincts in that situation. When it’s first hit to you, you think you can get the double play. But as you take steps toward first, you realize the guy is going to score if you don’t throw it, so you gun it home with enough time to get the force. I mean that IS what happened, but it's the obvious wrong call. There are literally drills whose point it is to teach that you don't double up on a mental mistake. The discipline to take the sure out after you hesitate on a risk play should be bred into him. It should have been bred into him before Legion ball. fathom
Also don't forget that Jace likely isn't available because Rondon was so bad on Saturday they needed to bring him in. What a waste of your best reliever.

It should have been bred into him before Legion ball. How is that doubling up on a mental mistake? When it’s hit to you, your first instinct is to get a double play to end the inning. So you start taking steps toward first, which is not a mental mistake. At the exact moment you realize there isn’t enough time for that, you throw home with enough time to get the force. Once again, not a mental mistake. If Omar had his foot on the bag, nobody is questioning that play by Matt.
Insp
Leave it to Renteria to put in our worst pitchers in the game and leave them in there so he can guarantee that we lose even more games.
oldsox
Davidson was inept. Coach him up. Or, DH him. Abreu would have known what to do. Volstad should be DFA'd. Same with Rick.

ttommarello823
Did anyone catch the Cincy broadcast tonight? They showed a stat in which the White Sox pitchers lead the League in walks with 350, and the next closest team, Baltimore, has 298...that is just ridiculous. Just because you think about what you’re going to do before the pitch doesn’t mean there is only one option. You have to react to how hard the ball is hit and where you field it. BigHurt3515
16 minutes ago, SoxBlanco said: I don’t think that’s a terrible play by Matt. If he steps on first, there is no chance to get the guy at home. So either way, best case scenario is only getting one out. Throwing home gets the lead guy and nobody scores. I understand that they are up by two runs, but it’s not an awful play if Omar knows it’s a force. He was going towards first base to tag it so this makes Omar have to change his stance so he can tag the runner if he throws home
