ron883
You look at our minor league system, and it is stacked with position players and pitchers. You've got guys like Alex Call who are way down on the prospect lists posting .900 OPS in AA. The white sox have to have surpassed the yankees, padres, braves of the world. I know Toronto is looking good too. Is any system as good as ours? I'm not as familiar with others.

bmags
Sox fans aren’t good at this stuff because they compare our system to what it used to be vs comparing it truly to all other franchises. I don’t think anyone has the time for that but after the year of injuries I’d probably take Yankees or brave for under 25 talent.
Jose Abreu
in terms of highest ceiling players, I'd take our farm system without question. In terms of safest bet systems (for solid MLB regulars), I'd take the Padres without question.
caulfield12
Depends partly on what you think about Mejia’s true potential, the Braves losing eligibility for Maitan, Acuna Jr. and Albies...the White Sox only lost Jace Fry (?) But the injuries have taken their toll, too. Giolito, Lopez and Fulmer all lost their rookie status last year, or the beginning of this year...along with Moncada. I like our system, but I'd have to say the Padres have the best farm in baseball right now. The Rays have a sneaky good system as well that nobody is really talking about. White Sox, Braves, Padres, Rays have the strongest systems right now I'd say Diamondbacks, Mariners, Red Sox, Cubs have the weakest
caulfield12
Royals have to be pretty close to the bottom as well...with DET not much better. Seems Tigers aren’t going to gut their team by trading Castellanos, Fulmer, Shane Greene, Boyd, etc.
caulfield12
Last week the San Diego Padres traded Brad Hand and fellow reliever Adam Cimber to the Cleveland Indians, and in return received Francisco Mejia, baseball’s top catching prospect. It was yet another elite addition to what has become baseball’s best farm system by miles. Padres general manager A.J. Preller has methodically built San Diego’s collection of prospects into an absolute behemoth, one that looks more loaded than any in recent memory. While the results have yet to be seen at the major league level, some of the team’s impact prospects are knocking on the door. Preller and the Padres have taken their cues from the Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros. They tore the major league product down and invested in high-upside youth at all levels. They bet on their ability to out-scout, out-draft, out-recruit and out-spend their competition for talent. It’s paying off so far. How jam-packed is the Padres’ system? With the addition of Mejia, San Diego now boasts three of the top six players on Keith Law’s midseason top 50, and seven of the top 51 (he made an addendum to his list). On MLB.com’s top 100 list, the Padres have 10 of the top 100 and a ridiculous seven in the top 42. MLB also ranked San Diego’s system at No. 1 before the season. https://thebiglead.com/2018/07/25/san-diego-padres-prospects-preller-has-bulit-monster/

The Padres beat the Sox on both top end talent and depth, while the Braves just kill with their depth.
DirtySox
Nope. I'd put San Diego and Atlanta ahead.

daggins
Pads, Braves, Rays are clearly better. Yankees are maybe better. Marlins and Blue Jays could eclipse them by the end of the season, depends on deadline action. Sox farm is also having a really bad year, could rebound next year and still be top 5 even with Jimenez and Kopech (hopefully) graduating.

The injuries have sucked, but overall this has been a fantastic year. The only guy who has really fallen off is Hansen and it’s way too early to write him off. The Sox are clearly top three with the Padres & Braves IMO.
daggins
Injuries are a big deal. If Luis Robert and Burger can't stay on the field, those a two huge busts. Dunning and Hansen have spent extensive time on the shelf. Eloy has been on the DL multiple times. These aren't minor concerns.

Oh wait... It’s also too early to worry about Dunninng or Robert due to injuries. Burger and Hansen maybe. You clearly also did not factor in the great year guys like Basabe, Rutherford, Adolfo, LuGon, Collins, and others are having. The stocks on those 5 guys have rebound quite a bit that they are either at the latter part of the Top 100 or that they just missed it; and the guys in the lower minors who put themselves on the map this year. I think they are clear top 3. Anything outside of 4 is asinine. 1
NorthSideSox72
Padres definitely have a deeper farm, and Atlanta can argue maybe as well. Sox 2nd or 3rd, I'd say, from everything I've read.

JUSTgottaBELIEVE
Between the recent trades by the Braves and the promotion of Allard, who will soon lose prospect eligibility, I’d give the Sox a slight edge on the Braves for #2.
