Who else since 2005 have they drafted and developed into above average besides Rodon?  Legit question, not sarcasm as I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Would it make you feel better if I said "acquire" instead of draft?  Would it really change the point as it pertains to Don Cooper?

I think you’re the only one on this site who thinks this.

I have a strong opinion and am very vocal about it. I look at how hitters react to their pitches. When Giolito stays closed in his delivery and doesn't fly open hitters aren't on him at all. He has #2 stuff at the very least. For Giolito, it is all about not flying open and getting his delivery out of whack. When he does that, he's fine. Go look at the first two innings vs. the Yankees and you'll see it. He was doing a good job and making hitters look silly for the first 3 batters or so. Then he got out of whack and got shelled. The good thing is that the amount of starts that he gets out of whack for an inning or two are getting fewer. It is really obvious to me. Stuff isn't just having a big fastball. It helps, but there are other things besides just pure velocity. Giolito is going to take some time. I think it is going to click for him around the ASB next year. Where he is now is night and day from where he was in April and May.

Sean Casey had a good rant on Moncada tonight. Hope you can catch it somewhere later on.

And it wasn’t a “Moncada sucks” thing. It’s about making adjustments that he obviously needs to make eventually.

I could tell they were breaking him down earlier as they mentioned the bunt fact.  Any tidbits as probably hard to find the clip.

Amsinger- Moncada is on pace for 231 k.

Casey- if you’re a big league ballplayer, you have to put the ball in play more than that.

Casey then told a story about talking to minor leaguers and the difference between being a minor leaguer and a major leaguer- there’s a ton of talent in the minors but the guys that make the big leagues and stay there have the mental side of the game down to compete everyday and make adjustments. Half kidding, he said, “If you’re punching out 231 times, you’re not making too many adjustments!...and  at some point you go from prospect to suspect.”...”if you don’t have a plan or process, get one!”

There was a little more, but the jist was get a plan, figure it out, and be positive with your own game.

This is why I don't worry at all about Eloy for example.

Go back and look at his big strikeout game for the Nats and compare to now.  Where in the world did the filthy slider go?

That was a curveball and he’s pretty much abandoned it.  And it’s bizarre because it was his big secondary pitch in the minors, same with Giolito.  Don’t understand how both guys get here and decide they no longer want to throw it.

Steve Stone is the problem. He doesn't sound good with Hawk or Jason. Both Hawk and Jason sound much better with anyone else.

Again, I'd love for AJP to replace Stone but I don't think he wants to do it.

At least Moncada was looking fastball and not sliders there?  Sigh...

You mean taking two fastballs on the first two pitches that had the plate and then he chased a pitch off the plate?  He just sucks right now, and if he's not making the adjustments they're preaching to him, then bench him or demote him.
