southsider2k5
This one makes me sad. One of the great personalities in the game.
Lip Man 1
Had that huge win for the team in Boston in September 2005. Always wondered what could have been had he remained in the organization.

SoxAce
I still remember when he was a prospect here posting on this board. Great guy, great memories.
BlackSox13
Always liked McCarthy. I wish well in the braves pen. With his personality I think he'd be a good fit in the booth calling games. Brandon and AJ could make for a fun team.

The one thing I can think of is it would have helped the Sox not make the playoffs in 2008, since John Danks wouldn't have been on the team. He's a good guy and all, but trading him turned out to be a wise move. Edited August 15, 2018 by Dick Allen

WhiteSoxfan1986
With him retiring, no members of the 2005 Chicago White Sox will be active in MLB.

GreenSox
I liked McCarthy a lot with the Sox. But Danks was just as good and for 2008, a lot better. Williams made several important trades after the 2007 Guillen and injury-driven debacle, especially for the Carlos Quentin. Even Swisher 1 wasn't that bad; it was cowtowing to Guillen and giving him away in Swisher 2 that was the problem.
