Are the Sox Losing on Purpose?

25 men out. Soon to be released on blue ray and DVD. It's a baseball love story about a team purposely losing to get a higher draft slot in the 2019 draft. This love story focuses on the courting of a highly touted draft pick and how White Sox scouts must woo the draft pick to earn his love, trust and respect while the White Sox team lose as many games possible to get into position to draft the prospect. As the story unfolds the mastermind behind this insidiously genius scheme is revealed. Will it be JR? KW? Rick Hahn? Hawk? Or perhaps a ringer hired from outside the organization? Rated PG-13.

No, they just have a manager and pitching coach that think Gomez can pitch.  Of course, that begs the question...

Obviously they have a GM that thought he could pitch or he would not have been added to the ML roster. The manager played Engel in CF last night  because when he went to make out the lineup, Trout or Betts were not on his roster.

Literally 1 week ago we were coming off strong series against the Yankees and Red Sox and feeling like these kids were somewhat exciting and maybe we did have a shot at this.

That seems like so long ago because one big thing changed since then. It seems like the Kopech news didn't just hit us, it sure does seem like it ripped the team's heart out too.

It's a 162 game season.  There are ups, there are down, good teams look bad, bad teams look good, etc.  Last year's team was on a 4-22 run in late July/August.  Then the future WS champions came to town and the Sox swept them.  This year's team just happened to have one of their best stretch when the Yankees and Red Sox were around, it happens.  It's more randomness than the Kopech injury.

Do people really believe this?

If you don't think that the Sox are losing on purpose, then what's your explanation for why the team is so lifeless now when just not too long ago, it was firing on al cylinders?

The team has added back Jose Abreu, Avi Garcia, and Nate Jones and you think they are losing on purpose? That would be the worst tank attempt ever.

Losing Kopech was a big mental blow.

It may contribute, but I also think it's a mental wall that hits a lot of guys that usually end their season on Labor Day. And then there's just baseball ebbs and flows. The Sox are a bad team, so a 7-game losing streak even to bad teams shouldn't be a huge surprise.
