greg775
Seems like an obvious hire. Hire Joe G.
Y2Jimmy0
I don't think Jerry Reinsdorf ever pays a manager $6 million per year. Hard pass on Girardi for me. I think it will be Omar Vizquel in 2020. I'd look at Beltran or Ibanez though as well.
Lip Man 1
Scott Merkin in his mailbag column at the White Sox web site in response to a question about Girardi said he thought Hahn was going to sign Renteria to a two year extension although he said it may have to be done before this season moves along since if the Sox lose 90-100 games again it could be hard to justify it. Quoted Cooper as saying this is the most prepared staff he's been around in 18 years. Edited October 26, 2018 by Lip Man
Dam8610
If the Cubs hire Girardi, the Sox should hire Maddon.

While that would be amusing, I'm moreso advocating for Maddon because he seems to be good with young rosters and developing young major leaguers. SCCWS
I wonder what effect the manager and staff have on big name free agent signings. Certainly each player has his own reasons from money to a chance to compete for a World Series. But does a stud pitcher rate the pitching coach as a major factor? Do Machado or Harper care who the hitting coach is? If the coaching staff is a major factor, Hahn may need to decide on his "next manager" before he starts chasing big names. FWIW--I heard the replay of an interview w David Price the other day on a Boston talk radio show. Someone asked him after his strong outing against LA in Game 2 if this is why he came to Boston so he could pitch in big games. Price said it was and being able to play for a team that has won the AL East 3 years in a row. After playing the interview the talk show hosts laughed and said lets face it. He really came to Boston because they offered more money than St Louis did.
