So they signed with the Marlins why did we have no interest I thought we were out of the penalty box this year. People criticize the Marlins but the reason why they are able to keep tearing things down is because they go after the latin and cuban boys in IFA

We are in the penalty box. We are out when the new period starts July 2.

Wonder if CWS will spread the funds or go all in for a phenom

The good news is that we should have been able to negotiate exclusively with this class for the past two years, knowing that we could only chase the lower level guys in these two years.

We'll see how it works.

Yeah, this will be a class to watch for a change in approach from white sox.

The cba changes are effective in pulling the game back to the way Jerry likes to operate, as the draft changes in 2012 did before then. Add to that the supposed greater focus in talent acquisition and development starting with the rebuild and fans should hope to see a better class.

OTOH, no teams will be on the sidelines for the first time in a long time, so the pool is more competitive.

It will be more interesting to see strategy with the hard cap.  Better to throw most everything at a Mesa type, or spread it around?

I'm more interested in seeing if they are willing to spend more on a 16/17 year old than breaking the bank on the older Cuban prospects that come over.

Paddy has indicated he likes to spread the money around, but I don't believe it. Now that it's somewhat cost controlled I will be disappointed if sox aren't on the top 30 board.
