What free agents

No way on Lopez. He's going to want a lot of money and we have Olivo.

Livan Hernandez has an option with Montreal and will likely be retained. If he does slip free, I wouldn't overpay with him because there's no telling what you'd get.

Castillo and Pierre are both intriguing to me, but you only go after Castillo if Robbie leaves. And if Castillo asks for Ray Durham type money, there's no way he'll be on the Sox.

What free agents would you like to realisticly see in a White Sox uniform.

I would like to see Javy Lopez, Livan Hernandez, Luis Castillo, Juan Pierre, or even a new SS in our lineup....what are your thoughts ladies and gentleman?

No on Javy, Yes on Livan,Yes on Castillio( i whould like him at short, keep Robbie), No on Pierre(just based on Rowand) Yes on Robbie, and Yes on Colon.

Realistic, no, but guys I whould enjoy in a Sox unniy.

If we don't re-sign Robbie than I say take a look at Castillo and Guzman. Those two would be tremendous in our middle infield.

Than again if the Marlins win the pennant Castillo's value sky rockets.

Than again we'll probably end up with Robbie and a shortstop KW acquires in a trade.

Hernandez would be a great innings eater and he's an option for our #3 or #4 spot in da rotation along with Brian Anderson, Miguel Batista and Jarrod Washburn.

Castillo yes only if Robbie ain't resigning.

Javy Lopez no, he'll be in a Padre uniform next year anyways.

Juan Pierre no, cos we need to giv Rowand a shot and he'll cost too much probs. Mike Cameron maybe instead if we can get him cheap, but I'd seriously doubt that he'd come back.

Guzman an option at SS.

Redman would be nice but I'd doubt da Marlins let him go unless they r forced to get rid of him due to budget problems.

The rest are worth a look, I suppose.

My wish list is:

SS Cabrera

2B Castillo

SP LHernandez/Ponson - would rather have Colon, but I need so realistic picks

RP quality right handed reliever

I also wouldn't mind the Sox taking a look at Batista(if he will take less then 4M/yr) and Alverez(I have a feeling he could be next years Loiaza).

In order to do the above the Sox would have to get rid of at least 2 of the following without receiving any big salaries in return OR paying a big portion of their salaries(Maggs, Lee, Konerko, Thomas, Koch).

In reality I think the Sox and KW will be more active on the trade market then the FA market(based on previous history and the fact that the Sox have a lot of money tied up in big contracts). We will have to wait and see, but I have a feeling at least one big trade will happen with the above mentioned players, and possible 2 or 3. We will have to see what we get/give away in trades and then fill in the wholes with 1 or 2 FA's.

That's about the cream of the crop when it comes to the Sox's limited budget. I'm not saying we throw money at these guys, but a ST invite, or a low contract could make them a very a very attractive 5th starter.

I'd definately take a chance on Livan Hernandez.

Castillo and Matsui ---- that would be be the best of all possibilities.... I didn't say realistic possibilities.

Pierre is a great player, but we are deep in CF and OF prospects. He may not be worth it to us over the long haul.

Hawkins.

Pudge or Javy either one, if we are dreaming here. Olivo would make a GREAT backup.

Javy's only playin well cos he's in a contract year. Watch him get a big fat contract like Kendall got with da Pirates from da Padres and he'll go back to his mediocre numbers from last numbers.

Lopez will be back to his injury prone overrated, overpaid self next year.

I'd be thrilled if we got Redman. I wanted Kenny to make a trade for him last off-season, the guy is an awesome pitcher.

I would want Castillo/Cabrera up the middle.

Willie remember this is the Sox we're talking about, we usually don't sign one big name free agent. Let alone two, I wouldn't be surprised to see Alomar back at second with a new partner at shortstop.

I wouldn't touch Livan at 6 mill a year. He's a solid pitcher, but the only way I take him is if the Expos pay half is salary and do the trade for someone like Ginter.

His option vested right, so we'd have to trade for him???

If were going to invest 6 mill, I'd rather spend an extra million or so and land Sidney Ponson who is much younger and a total workhorse too.

You could also look on the trade front and see what teams are considering cutting payroll and have starters that make fair money, but they can't retain them.

Is Pierre a free agent?  He hasn't been around that long, has he?

Hey may be but I am not sure....

Rex who would you like to see up from the minor leagues for next season starting on the 25 man roster??? I'd prefer to see Adkins, but that is just me.
