That way he would only need to get 6 years 200 to hit 10 years 360. It seems completely unlikely for a Boras client though as this really is Harpers best time to get a record breaking deal. In 4 years Trout will have signed his new deal and it will probably reset the market.

Dodgers surely remain a considerable threat to sign Harper, as do the Phillies, and Nationals. 4 minutes ago, peavy44 said: I have heard harper wants to go to cubs he told them make there best offer. He would take 4 year deal to go to cubs. The white sox gotta convince him to come to white sox Harper would have to take an immense and foolish discount if he wanted to sign with the Cubs on a 4 year deal. No way you can turn down the mega $$$$ generational wealth that your family is being offered. I just do not see that happening, pure speculation. I don't even think he'd take a 4 year deal at $200M.

Hugely depends on how the next 4 season go though. Injuries can happen, poor performance/regression, etc. No way you can bank on a contact 4 years down the line, take the money when you can get it. He would still be a free agent again at 30. I don't think you hire Scott Boras to be your agent to take a four year contract instead of a ten year one. almagest
With the chatter changing to "White Sox on outside looking in" and some reports coming out now about Harper preferring other destinations and/or other teams being in the bidding/being favorites my assumption is Harper is looking to get the final best offers from LAD/Cubs/Phillies to see if they can field a competitive offer (compared to the Sox). If so he'll probably sign with one of them.
ChiSox59
I personally really appreciate the push to get all tweets embedded. I can't access twitter at work, so its a tremendous help, as twitter links are worthless to me.

I am choosing the Embed option and then only copying and pasting the part that StrangeSox circled.

Chicago White Sox
To me, these Dodgers leaks are clearly coming from the Boras camp. Make the White Sox their their offer isn’t good and bid against themselves.
hogan873
I don't buy the 4-year deal to the Cubs when offer from the Sox and others would most likely contain opt-outs starting at year 4 or 5.

This is less worrisome than expected, as at least there was no talk about year limit or opt-outs. I'm not predicting the White Sox are going to sign either one of these two stars, but would any source tell him (from the White Sox organization) that the White Sox are actually optimistic or in the lead for signing them? That would be news if he was quoting White Sox sources as saying they are expected too. In other words, the White Sox may or may not sign Harper/Machado, but the national media expects they're sign with the Yankees, Phillies, Dodgers, or a darkhorse team like the Cubs. Boston would normally be in the mix and teams like Houston/St.Louis probably jump in/out. Teams like the White Sox are never going to be favorites.
