Hopefully this opens up more chances for Alex Call, but was he even one of the top 40 prospects in the system?

Top 40? For sure. But he was also my first answer for “who would you give up that has some value” for x player. Those players get you mid season relief pitchers and expensive starters. It’s not nothing.

Anderson to CF, Manny to SS, Yoan to 3B, Dozier to 2B

If you were doing something like that, why not just sign Dozier to play 3B? He's not a great defender and is too old for us to care about his long-term value.

Yonder Alonso is a consistent 0.533 fWAR player (2015, 2016, 2018) unless you’re suddenly expecting the 2.4 from 2017 as he turns 32 to open the 2019 season.

We ALL know how well that always turns out for the Sox when we look at the numbers on the back of the baseball card, lol.

At least we now have our very own version of Logan Morrison, albeit he could cut down on Anderson, Moncada and Machado throwing errors appreciably.

cause unfortunately I think they want to move Yoan to 3b, which I know you and I hate that idea of.

all it does when people say he's not good is make it so much more obvious what's going on

The other thing this trade does is potentially spook Boras & Harper into thinking we’re moving forward with Machado.

This puts us in a position of power, especially because our meeting with Machado is on Monday. Harper and Boras have just been sitting on our offer but now the pressure is on them and not us. If they want to risk losing their best (monetary) offer, so be it.
