Big News: per source inside the organization, Machado is very closely considering signing with after today’s meeting. GM Klentak was contacted by Machado’s agent to inform him of this. Sounds like there’s going to be a deal unless someone ups the offer

It's a fake account

Already proven to be unreliable.

Honestly, look at the date and time. You don't think that already wasn't discussed here?

I think the fact that the Sox are first in these meetings can be a scary proposition as usually that enables other teams to match, etc.  Makes you wonder how much you are being used for leverage vs. not (especially in MLB where players tend to take their time to sign vs. NFL or NBA where you want to be at the front of the list).

The next few days are going to suck. Just embrace it. We aren’t going to hear updates until at least the weekend on a possible deal, so just put your head down for a few days.

Well said.

There’s virtually no way there aren’t reports coming out of his Thurs meeting saying the Phils are going to offer stupid money.

In college recruiting, programs usually like having the last visit, but I’m not sure it really matters here when big money is involved.  There’s also no max contracts like the NBA where everyone is forced to offer similar deals.  If he gets a better offer later in the week, it’s not like we wouldn’t get a chance to top it unless he never really had any intention of coming here in the first place.

And tomorrow it’s going to come out the Yankees seem like the best fit, they are ready to spend, etc. It’s how things work.

Yet nothing came out yesterday about how well our meeting went with him. Seems like a missed opportunity to put pressure on Harper

I was a little surprised by that to be honest. You would have thought Heymam/Rosey/Nightengale didn’t put something out from the Sox. Clearly a strategy by the Sox, but not sure what it is.

"Bryce, we're signing Manny it will be announced Saturday.  We'll keep quiet if you want to try to use us as leverage, but you have our offer"
