And we don’t get nice things because you’re not good at your job.

Not sure if you've watched his last few youtube videos but Simonetti said he has heard but cannot confirm rumors of the Yankees at 7-8 years 250 million. No idea how true or not that is, but, you'd have to think the Sox offered or will offer more than that. To your point if the Sox are at 275 or 300 and he turns it down for 250 then probably not a good look for the team.

If DiDi doesn't get hurt, do the Yankees even pursue Machado?

Yes. There's just no way that an MLB front office would allow a 3 month injury to alter their pursuit of a free agent who will likely haul in 8+ years and 250+ million.

I don't know. 3 months can ruin a season.  If no injury,  they may spend their cash elsewhere.

If Machado were a typical free agent who will sign for a year or two then yes, I think the Yankees would be more inclined to chase him after the injury. But the 3 months still is nothing compared to the whole length of the deal. Hypothetically, when it's year 7 and they're paying him $35 million, they won't even remember May of 2019 when they were missing their former shortstop.

Not to mention, Gleyber Torres is a capable shortstop as is, so he can slide over.

When the Bulls lost a coin flip and wound up with David Greenwood instead of Magic, that stung. But had they won that flip, they never would have been bad enough to draft Jordan

So maybe we will someday look back and think missing out on Manny opened a door to something better. But right now it feels like White Sox  business as usual.

I really want the Sox to get Manny. With that said, him being on the Sox could be a total disaster if they struggle a few years. It’s also funny to think of Ricky micromanaging Manny like he’s a high school softball player.
