He had FB velocity drop? I was unaware of that. Thought his stats were due to injuries he had last year. That's a little more problematic. Ottavino must be asking for the moon. Okay. In general, they tend to look better against the Sox than ON the Sox. By that theory, we can only successfully trade with the DBacks and Cubs now. K. turnin' two
Why would anyone complain about signing any sort of competent reliever. Unless they pay a ton for him, it makes no sense to get worked up. A team can never have enough relievers. Especially relievers that have had late inning success.

GreenSox
Herrera hasn't pitched much in the last couple of years, and what he did last year wasn't good. Just as soon go with the young guys - they have two vets.

Nokona
Coop'll fix em. The guy has unreal stuff. If you we can somehow pair him with Ottavino, we have one of the best pens in baseball. That Jones-Herrera-Colome-Ottavino is sick. Even without Ottavino it's top half good with the potential to breakout if one of the kids get going. It’s okay, if they sign Herrera, you will still be hearing how Greg will refuse to buy MLB Extra Innings or concession items and souvenirs at the ballpark this year. Without Harper or Machado, the only reason to watch this season is Jimenez and Moncada. If they were smart, they would realize how much value there is adding a name player that would take the pressure off all those young guys. What team would you identify Herrera with if we acquired him, KC or Washington? 1/2 a season versus an entire career? Jermaine Dye played 4.5 years with KC and 3.5 years with the Oakland A’s. He was more identified with a perennially contending Oakland A’s team as a veteran leader than the Braves or Royals at that point in his career. This makes no SENSE CAULFIELD!!!!!! He doesn't get better or worse for the Sox depending on who he identifies with!!!! And this is wrong too, Soria had 16 saves for the Sox last year, it wasn't once or twice

All season long whenever Herrera blows a save, everyone will mention his two months in Washington and never once the rest of his career in the majors or what team he played for 95% of the time. Got it! He will go into the HoF as a National, for sure.

Dick Allen
It would be interesting to see what kind of contract he commands, he did have surgery and it’s questionable whether or not he will be ready opening day.As a flip candidate, he couldn’t have been much better in KC last year, and the return they received wasn’t eye popping. I don’t think flips will ever be lucrative on their face, requires the luck they hit which is probably still worth it. It’s one of the reasons I’ve not been thrilled with Sox player choices on flips (relatively maxed out, older hitters and older pitchers who lost their prospect shine). We got a total of 3 young arms for Jake fucking Peters, one of which is a former FRP. It was a good trade whether you choose to accept it or not. As for Herrera, there is no stigma with acquiring ex. Royals players, this does exist amongst casual fans. Over the years, fans would have been elated to acquire the likes of Hosmer, Gordon, Moustakas, etc., You’re just complaining about things only Caufield would complain about. So basically The Sox should never go after a player who a fan might think played for the Royals before? You honestly think if he did something bad here people would be like HAHAHA THE WHITE SOX SHOULD KNOW BETTER, I THINK OF HIM AS A ROYAL SO OF COURSE HE’D BE BAD FOR THEM. GreenSox
Ottavino is 33, so I guess I see the hesitation on 3 years....although that would probably be no riskier than 1/2 year each on Alonso, Herrera, Jones, Cargo and others with tangible downward trends..
