The way this conversation is going you would think they are all sitting at a table right now staring at each other and making offers back and forth, when in all likelihood, they are sitting at home eating chicken wings and not thinking about this for like a week.

Remember a 250 million offer from Yankeees is worth substantially less in NYC because of their state tax.  The White Sox will get it done.

I don't even think Yankees wanna go 7 years on Machado more  like 4 or 5 years.

Mike trout might not make it to free agency.

Shhhhh! Yes he will. Don't be giving Philly and NY ideas of not going after him. He absolutely wants to go to Philly or NY and they should absolutely save their money to throw at him then! ?

Two years is a long time if you believe your team is ready to compete.

Maybe they could be thinking of trading for and extending him?  Are there any expendable prospects Phillies could give Anaheim?

The best player in the universe isn’t generally traded for expendable prospects.

I don’t think the Angels would trade Trout even if I think they should.

And I don’t believe Philly has the ammo to pull off such a trade off.  Like does Hoskins, Sanchez, & Medina even start a conversation?  That’s their best young player who’s still controllable for quite some time plus their top two prospects. I don’t think that’s even close enough to get a dialogue going.

I didn't mean it that way. I meant  trading away high-value positional strength in the minors.  Like Sox trading our top pitching or outfield depth...any prospect is expendable for trout is kinda how I meant it.

Also, not that anyone should care, but I’ve switched my preference to Machado over Harper.  Despite feeling strongly about what Bryce could represent for the franchise, several posters here have made compelling cases for Manny and the objective side of me agrees if it has to come down to one.  That being said, I would still somehow love to land both, but am willing to admit it’s a long shot.

Thanks, answer I was looking for.

If I were the Angels and my team was struggling prior to Trout's Free agency, I'd trade him at the break and get a HELL of a lot back from it. Jeez, can you imagine that?

On Machado: Mildly surprised that he didn't sign anywhere in the first week of January, but I expect him to sign this upcoming week. That, to me, was always the prime point. I figured he'd sign in the second week or possibly first.
