He didn’t indicate any sense of timing. Agreed. I don't think this is anything new, which is why I'm confused as to why you think this happen in the next day or two. So he checked back, and the source is saying the same thing as before - Manny will probably sign with the Sox. Nothing to see here. People can get excited if they want or blow it off if they want, but I think it's accurate that as of now, Manny will likely sign with us. I'm not getting excited about anything until I see a tweet from Rosenthal, though.
EL1
32 minutes ago, Roughneck said: Yeah. I don't know why they would need a security detail for a presser, let alone enough that the security company would have to put out an APB for all available security. The only thing that would necessitate that much security would be if they had an outdoor Miami Heat-style rally to introduce him. Most if not all the security at the park are off-duty police officers who are hired by the White Sox. Not sure why they would call a security company to come in. But why the heck would they need a bunch of security to hold back Chuck Garfein?

Its the same security officers as in the park. It just seems a little weird to be calling in security. Orlando
Guys, please stop discrediting the security story. That is very inconsiderate because it fits the narrative of what I want to believe. ? 1

Like I said, I could buy that they went elsewhere because they normally give their security the schedule weeks in advance, and this was a sudden thing. But that doesn't explain why they need all this for a press conference.

It's either a BS story or the Sox are going to introduce him at a public rally outside the stadium and expect 5,000 people to be there. Imma clear my schedule.

Dick Allen
The White Sox wouldn't need additional security or security on call for a freaking press conference. They might need it if some other team was having a press conference announcing Machado's signing.

Another team announcing a deal with him would be a huge blow to the fanbase.

According to one person, the Chicago White Sox are close to signing Manny Machado. It started with Steve Paradzinski of TheLoopSports.com, who wrote that it was time for the White Sox to “finish the job” and sign Machado. Shortly thereafter, Hector Gomez, an editor at Z101, the largest station in the Dominican Republic, responded. Gomez noted that his source has said that Machado will soon sign with Chicago. The White Sox have been one of the teams tied to Machado through the offseason. Though, much like fellow superstar Bryce Harper, nothing has actually happened. That is not really what Gomez said at all.
