A trusted reporter saying that Manny will sign in the next few days is far more of a timeline than anything else we've gotten this offseason

Next few days could mean tomorrow, or it could be next week. He could also just be basing off a hunch due to ST starting up.

All I'm saying is once Yonder and Jon report to camp, Manny will sign, there is only so much posturing they can do.  Offers are not coming, you sign the one in front of you.

I want to believe this, I really do but I just don't see the Phillies making it this easy for us. If the Sox get Manny at their price, it will be a miracle.

If Kopech is on the opening day roster 2020, then he has 5 full years service time left, and Sox will have lost a year of service due to the injury. However, if they send him to Charlotte till around June 1, then the Sox get the rest of 2020 plus the 5 more years. The trick is , he has to be sent down for performance issues and not as a rehab or injury situation. You know, “ he needs to fine tune his command “ at AAA.

If he is able to make it back for the end of the year this year, they can do that too and then it would be even less time in the minors to start 2020.

I do think it's possible he will have to work in Charlotte due to performance issues - remember how his 2018 went, he was a walking walk for about 3 months and then suddenly everything clicked in late june and july. If it takes him just as long to find a groove we won't want him up next season.

However, if people think this team is going to be competing for the AL Central in 2020, then Kopech is going to be a required part of any competitive rotation even if you bring in a free agent.

and this is why odds to sign a player mean nothing. the money came in on the sox and they are now the favorite lol.

Oh wow, those are really strong odds regardless.
