Interesting, another sports channel can't be bad. Thoughts?

Doesn't do out of towners any good unless we have access through local cable or on satellite. I would enjoy seeing more games then WGN offers. If we unlucky ones can't get the new channel I would hope they do keep WGN games.

Get MLB Extra Innings on DirecTV

All I get is WGN games and ESPN games. We know how many games are on ESPN. It would be cool when I am in town, but suck when I am at school.

You can get that on cable too. Same price since MLB sets the price from what I've been told.

Yep, I've had it on Direct Tv and now we have cable and I have it on that. Same price either way.

Great package though, especially for out of towners.

As far as the new station, I'm sure it will be a regional thing, but I think it sounds cool to have one station for everything. I hope this means that the Sox don't televise anymore games on WCIU (This way I would get almost all Sox broadcasts). The one thing they will have to do is come up with an alternate station that soley works when the Cubs/Sox are scheduled at the same time on the same station.

So will they just add a new channel for people that have basic cable in the Chicago land area? Where did u get this info from, do u have a link?

If I am not mistaken, combined with the MLB Extra Innings package and the WGN games, there were probably a total of 135+ Sox games broadcast this season for out of town viewers (Like Jas and myself). Of course we'd love to get the WCIU games as well, but I'll take 135 of 162.

I think one change that MLB needs to make on that package is the way they choose which broadcast you receive. If the Sox aren't at home and you're not in the Sox broadcast area, you rarely get the Sox broadcast. Instead you're forced to watch the home broadcast. And in the event that the Red Sox or Yankees are playing anyone, their broadcast is always used with the other one being blacked out.

My question for MLB is, if I'm paying $150 for the package, shouldn't I be able to watch the broadcast I want? Just a thought, but to me, it makes sense and it wouldn't hurt them one bit to create some extra channels so that each broadcast would be available, even when the Sox are on the road or playing the Yanks, Red Sox, etc.

Sounds cool! As long as its on standard Comcast cable and there are no extra charges.

It will be called the "Comcast Sports Channel Chicago" or something to that effect so it will be available on Comcast Basic Cable.

I work for Comcast and have heard talks about it. Hopefully I'll be working for the channel when it does start up.

Sounds Cool. Thanks for that info...and welcome aboard. If you can, tell them to make sure every Sox game is still televised :D

If I'm correct, aren't Orioles games broadcast on Comcast Sports out of Baltimore.

Would this be a similar arrangment?

I have the DISH network, will I get it?

Thanks for the welcome all. I have been registered for awhile but just haven't posted. Like reading stuff. I usually post at WSI then found you guys here through them. Not sure if you guys have a rivalry or work together.

The channel is still in the very early stages of development. Not sure what channel it will be or what other programming it will contain. Some rumors are that it will have shows like "Full Access" and other shows that FSN has for the local teams. Maybe certain programs covering specific teams. Comcast is an affiliate of the Wolves so they may have those games as well. The Comcast network, probably channel 3 or 26 in your area does the High School Games of the Week, they could expand that and move those games to the sports channel.

No "Best Damn Sports Show Period" for 12 straight hours obviously.

I'm pretty sure it will be on basic cable, and digital cable. DirectTV and Dish Network, I couldn't tell you right now. If those dish's have FSN, I would think you'd be able to get it. Please don't quote me on that. Hopefully Comcast won't be a bunch of jagbags and make it too difficult to get the channel on there since they are obviously competitors.

Baltimore and Boston both have Comcast Sports Channels, so if you know anyone out there who has a dish, see if they get it on there.

All of the above is just hearsay and nothing confirmed obviously.
