CWSpalehoseCWS
Well, that's good to hear. Too bad he didn't want to play here.
Southwest Sider
It'd be interesting to know the AAV of the Sox deal. Sounds like Milwaukee blew everyone away as far as dollars in a year go.

GenericUserName
So probably a good assumption we will try again next year.

At the very least we'll know more about what kind of progress Collins has made, compared to the pitchers. If we sign one of the big fish this offseason, we'll have a need at 1b next offseason, and then we'll probably have room for 1 more player somewhere, whether that's pitching or catching or 3b or elsewhere. GreenSox
He's got a point...at some point it's results, not the good ole college try, that matter. Of course it would be nice to know what the Sox offer was.

caulfield12
Grandal for one year was never going to make sense to the White Sox in the same way it has for Milwaukee, who are attempting to maximize their chances to win the NL Central on a yearly basis (kind of the way the White Sox used to operate in the 2000-2009 time frame.) Not to mention this buys Collins and Zavala another year to prove themselves defensively. To sign him for 3-4 years when their competitive window might not even begin until 2 years from now...especially for catchers who have an expedited aging curve, well, it just was not a good move for the Sox. Sarava
I don't mind missing out on Grandal. Though maybe I have a bit of concern about Hahn's ability to sell this team, this rebuild and this city to prospective free agents. But we have no clue what they actually offered, so it's hard to make much of a judgement.
ChiSox59
One thing this does show is that the Sox were willing to lose a draft pick to sign someone other than Harper.
