PHOENIX (AP) -- Mark Grace divulged his new career plans Wednesday, signing a one-year contract to join the Arizona Diamondbacks' broadcast team.

``I love this organization, and I love being around the ballpark'' said the 39-year-old first baseman, who played the last three season of his 16-year career with the Diamondbacks. ``I'm looking forward to the continued camaraderie with my former teammates and my new teammates in the broadcast booth.''

Team president Rich Dozer said Grace would be behind the microphone as a color commentator for about 115 games.

After Grace announced his retirement Sept. 26, the Diamondbacks offered him a chance to manage their short-season Class A farm team in Missoula. But his wife, Tanya, gave birth to their second son Tuesday, and Grace wanted to stay in the Phoenix area. He also hoped to build on experience working with ESPN Radio during the 1999 and 2000 National League division series.
