Has the Cubs success made your Sox love stronger?

I hate to have this come across like the whole "lovable loser" bulls***, but with the Cubs success, I am finding myself wearing my Sox colors with all that much more pride. I spend my time with the post season games watching the games and also flipping through my White Sox Encyclopedia, and reading up on other forms of Sox history.

I have also found this board, thanks to the trolling Cub fans on the "official" board.

So how about it, have any of you other Sox fans had more love come about for some strange reason due to all that is happening in the Chicagoland area? :headbang

Personally it has made the disappointment of this past season more intolerable. I would say that I am disgruntled for the first and feel if JR and KW don't make strides to take this thing seriously we could be in for a long rough road. I am on the fence and began by dropping my season tickets. I hope I am wrong but it could be a tough draw next year.

My thoughts precisely, although I am not dropping my season tickets because I have none to drop. :D

I'm with you. The Cubs doing well in the playoffs hasn't made my "Sox love stronger." However, it has made my disdain for JR, KW, and JM that much more stronger than it ever has been before. If JR and KW don't do everything they can to field the best team in the AL Central from the start of 2004..... that includes hiring a manager with WS experience on the winning side..... then I'm officially done with this Organization until JR sells and KW is gone. There is no excuse for no WS appearance in one owner's 20+ years of ownership. None.

I'll tell you what the sCrUB postseason run has done for me - it's erased any interest in the NL playoffs.

I have watched ZERO NL playoff ball except for the late innings of the Marlins games with the Giants.

I have watched most of the Red Sox games and a little Spankee Twinkee action - although not much because I dislike both teams.

I will watch the Red Sox take down the Evil Empire ( with Princess Leia Ortiz ) but I have absolute ZERO interest in watching the LLs.

If the sCrUBS are somehow in the WS, I will not watch. I have no interest whatsoever in watching them play....none.

The Cubs success has depressed me more than words can say. I think the Chicago White Sox are in the same position that the Chicago Cardinals were in the late 1950's. I don't trust current ownership to take the necessary steps to make the franchise competitive for the long haul. I think that unless things change drastically the Sox days in Chicago are numbered, lease or no lease. Basically I'm just real  about the whole deal.

My love for the Sox has never been stronger, but to be quite honest the cubs may end up spoiling my White Sox World Series dream. If the cubs happen to win the World Series, my thoughts are that it takes some of the luster out of our WS victory, whenever that may be. I guess the fact that both teams have waited a long time since their last WS victories, the cubs wait obviously longer, it has been sort of a race to see who wins one first. Say the cubs win it this year and 2 years from now the Sox win it, it seems to be tarnished a bit. The fact that most cubs fans will throw the fact that they won a WS a few years earlier and the fact that I can't see the media giving us nearly the attention that the cubs are getting. I guess the only way to shut those people up from there would be to meet and beat the cubs in the WS. I don't know if this makes sense to you guys or not. I guess living near and working in Chicago, you get the full effect of these morons. If you are from elsewhere, you may not understand this because you don't get the full dosage of the idiocy.

I wore my Frank Thomas batting practice jersey and Sox hat yesterday and was unmercifully taunted at by loads of Cubs fans...Those asshole losers! I'm not considering my grandma's not seeing a world series for her Cubs anymore...Fans like those of which I encountered yesterday do NOT deserve any happiness.

What I am trying to say is... :fthecubs

I had one Cub fan stop and ask me where my Cubs jersey was (I was wearing my Sox jersey), I told him it was on the bonfire at home. He laughed and went about his business. I can deal with those fans that have a sense of humour, and trust me, this guy was a Cubs fan, as his store even has a bottle of champaign from the '84 Cubs.

I haven't had any ugly encounters, other than what I encounter on my TV.

I have the same feeling, and I think that is why I am wanting to wear the colors more now, to show that I am still there no matter what the Cubs do.

It has done this: If I hear one more time that we can't afford this or that I'm going to scream. We are a f***ing large market team. We lost to f***ing Minnesota. Before that Cleveland was kicking our ass. Minnesota and Cleveland! Buy me a WS appearace or get the hell out of the way. I don't want Billy Beane I want George Stienbrenner!

I thought being 1600 miles away I could just pretend to be a Cubs fan and accept all the "you must be so happy" s*** comments. Nope, I get more and more pissed at my Sox.

Hell my backup team, the Astros, lost to the Cubs. This season really did suck. Now I'm Boston's nightmare, I'm cheering for them.

Yes my love for the Sox has grown stronger, the Cubs success has proven how many "fair weathered fans" we have here in the city.

Being a die hard Sox fan makes me proud, especially during rought times.

IMO, the Cubs this year haven't had success. They've been in the right place at the right time for the last 5-30 years. If you want to look at the present time....they won their goddamn division with 86 wins. If we played in that goddamn division, we probably would have won it(though based on the W-L record, we would not have). In any other division, they are either killed, or are atleast beaten by a wide margin(I mean, even in the AL Central, had the Twins actually played the last 4 games against Detroit, the Twins would have probably won 92 games instead of the 90 that they did win, and those 90-92 wins, how ever you look at it, includes a streak where they lost like 22 of 28 games). If you look at it in the overall sense of it, they were lucky enough to not only have top 5 picks for about 7 out of the 10 years, but they also were fortunate enough that Minnesota was dumb enough to draft Mauer over Prior. If that happened to any team with the slightest clue, they would not have taken 10 years(let alone 20-30) to get s*** figured out.

I guess if you consider barely winning the weakest division in the majors and then squeaking by the Braves success.....then sure, I've worn my Sox gear more often.

my season ticket guy called the other day and asked me if he could be expecting my payment for my seats soon.. i laughed and hung up on him......he called again today....and said have you cooled down yet?? i told him that depending on what happens in the next few months.. he can definately not count on my money .......i gave him a few suggestions to pass along to the front office and said when those things happen ill renew and not before.. have a nice day and good luck filling seats......click.......

the only thing that having the scrubs on top this long has done, is piss me off completely with this org. and the way they run things into the ground year after year......its also causing grief between my neighbor and i.. i used to have my sox flag flyin high and i had to take it down at the seasons end.. hes had his scrubbie flag out there and each and every day when i leave for work and hes out there, he points to it and does one of these :headbang things..... so last nite i took the b b gun out and shot it full of holes.... hes out of town on business till sunday cant wait to see his face when he gets home...i did however break down and purchase him a new one to replace it with because im not a total b****.. but its the principle behind my anger that made me go postal on his flag........and he would have done the same thing if the tables were turned only i suspect he would have burned mine while still attached to the house....lol........so has the scrubs success made my love stronger for the sox?? nope its only caused me more grief and frustration......
