Quin
@Jose Abreu posted this link in another thread, but the Cubs are allegedly threatening reporters that are portraying piece of shit Addison Russell in a bad light. https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2019/04/28/report-cubs-privately-threatening-writers-who-criticize-addison-russell/?fbclid=IwAR2Huq3BdlRt3HIy1p-CzrDMAhbS6PWPAISjPCwn-mrbZs088F8MTKAgC4k

Dominikk85
The cubs did a great job building their team the last years but their public relations the last 3 years have been a disaster: -trading for abuser Chapman -nazi grampa emails -the Russell situation and its handling Can't take away from wit they did on the field but they need to control their public relations a bit better. 35thstreetswarm
I think the statute is running on the "but you can't deny that they're great" qualifier, too. Are they?

I still have no idea how he gets major league hitting out. It is a minor miracle. He's like a Right Handed Mark Buehrle. Cyrano
Running out only for the haters. Most wins in all of baseball last 4 years, 3 NLCS appearances, World Series Champion. Hottest team in baseball right now. Still great. Window Wide open for several more years. Have to learn to deal with it and focus on the Sox not the Cub accomplishments. Swingandalongonetoleft
So we're all in agreement that it was stupid to write this team off on April 5th, like one week into the season?
Cyrano
Again only the haters wrote them off. Real baseball fans did not, just like they have not written off the Red Sox or written "in" the D-Backs, Twins and to a lesser degree the Rays. They still could fall far short of a title but it wasn't lost on the first road trip. Nor was Pecota justified in that first week.

Theo has a long history of blowing free agent signings and not being able to develop pitchers, only hitters. Also, he has signed some of the worst big money deals over the years — Edwin Jackson, Heyward, Chatwood, Darvish, Morrow. Don't forget Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford. It would be high comedy. Theo is fucking up, and it is simultaneously hilarious and wonderful. Couldn't happen to a better fanbase, lol. Eloy settling down and winning ROY would be great to stick it up their asses. Wow, look who has the best record in the NL and is the hottest team in baseball with the highest run diff. You're dream will not come true. That's why it is better to focus on the White Sox and not the Cubs accomplishments. If you are getting your baseball joy from Cub failure you will be disappointed for a long time. You're letting your hate get in the way of seeing what is real. Cubs are really good and will be for awhile; just have to deal with it. Focus on the White Sox. You will feel better.
