Chisoxfn
About a week and a half ago we did starters, so this time lets see who everyones favorite relief prospects are. 1. Arnie Munoz He's a young lefty that already has a full season of AAA under his belt. If you look at his stats you'd say he was just average, but take away the first month of the season and he was dominate and its even more impressive that he did it in that bandbox known as Charlotte. He has a nasty curveball and a good enough fastball that prevents hitters from sitting curve. 2. Gary Majewski Also pitched his first season in AAA last year and his numbers weren't near as good as they were in Bham the year before. Despite that he probably has the best fastball in the organization (I guess their is Stumm). He throws the heat and he attacks hitters. Also has a solid slider. I see him with a closers mentality and I think he's a guy so many people write off, and I don't know why. 3. Jeff Bajerneau (Exuse the spelling) Coming back from an injury and did exception in Bham, especially after the Royce Ring trade. Has a great fastball and I've heard some really good things about him. Plus he's cool enough to post here 4. Jim Bullard Along with Bajerneau he excelled in the pen. It was his first season in the pen and he can throw quite a few pitches for strikes and has fairly good control. He doesn't really have a standout pitch, but can keep hitters off guard. This is going to be a huge year for him in AAA. As a lefty he has one thing definately going for him and if he can find his niche in Charlotte, he'll have a great shot of making it to the big show in a year to two. If their is one guy I'm pulling for, its definately Jim 5. Fabio Castro First off, you gotta love a guy named Fabio. While everyone scratches their heads, he pitched for Bristol last year and flat dominated. At 18 he's got a bright future. He struck out 16 guys in 11 innings in Kanny. He went 6-2 with a 1.72 ERA in 47 Inn. He struck out 59, and gave up just 29 hits. This guy must have some serious stuff.

YASNY
Here's another guy really pulling for Jim Bullard to make it to Chicago.
DBAHO
Arnie Munoz is the only reliever prospect I've heard of pretty much. David Sanders should get another chance next year as well.
Harry Chappas
Somebody mentioned a guy named Meaux(sp?) to me. any word on him I nevere really hear of him here and am too alzy to research myself.
Guest JimH
Ryan Meaux is a 25 yr. old lefty they got from the Giants along with Felix Diaz for Lofton last year. A crafty guy ... basically a situational lefty like Wuncsh. Let's just hope he doesn't constantly walk the first hitter he faces, just like Wunsch! winninguglyin83
Meaux got to Birmingham after Ring was traded. he's probably a year away. Munoz started poorly at Charlotte, probably because he was overworked. Pitched a ton of innings in winter ball. But he finished well. He might make the team. Sanders also deserves another look. Manuel never seemed to trust him. Majewski is in the AFL. Last outing was awful. Isn't there a guy named Josh Fields who had a decent year in A ball? Gotta figure it's time for Jason Stumm, another former Number One pick, to make his move. And you have to think a new manager will give Matt Ginter, another first round pick, one last look. Cerbaho-WG
Lets limit this to 5: 1) Munoz - Still might be converted to a starter with his evil curve. 2) Sanders - Has put up stellar numbers over the past 2-3 years, with the exception of 2000. 3) Fields - Good H/IP ratio 4) Bajenaru - Good comeback year 5) Hummel - Plesant surprise, got knocked around at High-A BTW, Castro started two games at Low-A Kanny, so I doubt he's a relief prospect. The Beast
Jon Rauch. Josh Stewart. I hope these guys continue to get back to health and contribute once more
Chisoxfn
Ya Cerb, I saw Castro had those two starts in Kann. If they plan on moving him to the rotation, then I'll move Sanders/Hummel into the 5th slot. I think Sanders will be very productive with that slider he throws. Him and Munoz will be major league relievers. As far as Stumm I hope he can get healthy, but its hard to get him on the list. Ryan Meaux was the closer for the Warthogs for half the year and then went to Bham. He really mixes things up and has very good control. If I find a link I can give you some footage of him warming up that I shot at the Carolina/California league all star game.
