KipWellsFan
What kind of contract is he under? Do we have him locked up for a while? It would be very useful to sign him to, say a 3 year deal.
Chisoxfn
I think going 3 yr 9 mill would be very fair for him. It would be a way to pay him well before he becomes arbitration eligible so he'll be happy. I think one of the best things you can do is treat players that play well for you when your young very well. If you do that your whole organization gets a lot of respect and those players stay happy. Plus, you have a much better chance retaining them for cheaper later.

The Critic
Yeh I know the Cardinals r just waiting for him to hit Arbitration. He's already arbitration eligible. The Cardinals are waiting for free agency. I hope the Sox change their tactic and sign MB long-term.
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
When this year began he had 1 year, 122 days of major league service time. Add a year, and he's still at least two years away from arbitration eligibility. While I agree they should treat him fairly, historically they economize (screw) those contracts they can, and he'd be one of them.

He has 3 full season's under his belt for sure.

Mark came up in 2000, half way through the season...going 4-1 Then in 2001 he won 16 games, 2002, 19 games and pitched a full year in 2003. He had ovewr two years of service coming into this year. He is going to arbitration this winter. But we do have him signed through 2006.

Maybe this thread is an acurate representation of how Sox fans feel about keeping Buehrle long-term. GET A CLUE KW!
